About Me (& my favourite posts)

Hello there and thanks for visiting.  Here’s a little bit about me…

(scroll to near the bottom of this post to see my favourite posts)

I am a mum and wife, which gives me plenty to write about!  I am also a self-publisher.

My blog focusses on the good and happy in life, and if it’s not all good and happy, I turn it around to see the bright side.

I love to write, particularly in rhyme and I’ve produced a book series for children in rhyme.

You will also find me penning flash fiction (usually 100 words or less and usually from a prompt).  I find that this keeps my imagination and creative juices flowing, which is a challenge I love.  You can read my flash fiction here and my WonderfulWorldofWriting pieces here.

Wellbeing is a passion of mine and having recently gained a distinction as a Crystal Healing Practitioner, I am now studying kinesiology.  I am also attuned to reiki level 2 and my aim is to become a reiki master in the near future.

Alongside my regular crystal healing and reiki sessions, I also practice yoga several times a week.

It is my absolute belief that we are what we think and positive thinking is very important to me.

To reaffirm my beliefs, I run a wellbeing linky called #TheZenZing and a #PositiveThinking linky.

This is a great opportunity to showcase my favourite blog posts:

From my #HighlightsofHappy feature, I love week 10… the word was ‘because’…

This was because I had great difficulty in choosing just one word from my gratitude journal that week and that alone highlights the benefits of using a journal focussing on positive thinking!  This is also the first of my #HoH blog posts that included a vlog with visuals of my happy words 🙂

~

Next is my favourite #PositiveThinking post which is all about how to attract good vibes.  The message in the post?  Never under-estimate the power of gratitude and of remembering those moments in your daily life.

~

How about flash fiction?  Well, I really do love writing these pieces.  Perhaps it’s because although they are short, they challenge my writing and actually, I find them quite intense.  Visiting Hours is one of my favourites to date.

~

My WonderfulWorldofWriting is another area of my blog that I love putting together.  I seem to keep these posts for poetry and when I get in the flow, there’s no stopping me!  It’s none of these… was so much fun to write 🙂

~

How do you approach homework was a post written for the parenting category of my blog.  It highlights how homework can be an ironic balancing act between necessity and burnout.

~

Among the collaborative posts I’ve written is a review of ‘The BFG’ by Roald Dahl.  This is in-depth look at a classic book by the famous author and the brand were pleased with the “really thorough review.”

~

How to reset yourself is a post written for #TheZenZing, which is my monthly feature on wellbeing.  As I’ve said before, I’m passionate about wellbeing and this post encompasses the chakras which are at the core of our overall wellbeing.

I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know a little more about me

  1. Hi Carol,
I’ve just had two of my short stories published in an anthology and wondered if you would review the book on your blog?
It’s called ‘The Milk of Female Kindness’ and includes short fiction, poetry, art, memoir and medical writing on the theme of honest motherhood. Some of the writers have recently given birth, others are grandmothers. Some, like me, are childless; my writing is inspired by memories of my own mother. Some of the pieces will make you smile, others are heartbreaking.

I’d be very happy to send you an e-book or hard copy, or some sample stories.
    Best wishes and thanks,
    Sandra @ http://www.sandradanby.com/

  2. I have nominated you for the Versatile bloggers award! http://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/
You don’t have to accept but should you choose to this is what you need to do.
-Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
    – Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would
add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
    – Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award
    – Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

    Good Luck! God bless!
