As easy as QWERTY ~ a poem
Touch-typing makes you very fast, from A right through to Z,
“Keep your fingers in position,” my typing teacher said.
I did as I was told and my words per minute soared,
Faster than a speeding bullet, I was top of the score board!
Efficiently my fingers tapped, rhythmically they moved;
Relaxing, therapeutic, it makes my mind feel soothed,
So next time you’re bogged down, with more wood than trees,
Send your typing request to me, it’ll be done in a breeze!

The story behind the poem: In my post about my favourite writing tools, Mainey from My Real Fairy commented that she likes to type. And I do too. I love typing. Years ago at school, I learnt to touch-type and have vivid memories of using an old-fashioned typewriter and keeping my index fingers on F and J.
As a typist, there’s nothing better than really getting into the flow, of tapping away and almost seeing steam come off your keyboard! The springier the better for me.
As a typist, there’s nothing worse than a ‘sticky’ key that you have to thump or force down before the letter will appear on your screen!
Short nails are good too. I really notice when mine need trimming and get very frustrated.
For me, copy typing is a breeze and I find it very therapeutic.
Some people say that of ironing… not me!
Give me a qwerty keyboard and I’m away, as my poem suggests…
