Time for some happy in my #HighlightsofHappy #23

It’s a common phrase isn’t it?…

Bad things come in 3’s

or words similar to that!

So, let’s flip it (you know how I love to turn a negative into a positive!)

Let’s find 3 things to be happy and grateful for!

(or even more… I mean, why not?!)

3 is it your magic number highlights of happy 23 gratitude journal grateful happiness positivity positive thinking laughter

In my weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal and bring to you my #HighlightsofHappy , which is great because it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…

…so what’s made me happy this week?  You can find out by watching my short vlog or read the words below 🙂

(and don’t forget that you can join in with my #HighlightsofHappy on instagram linky and community.  I post up my favourite snaps every Monday and a new instagram linky goes live every Monday too!  Link up to the latest post here!)

This week I’m grateful for…

Going to the book fayre at our daughter’s school and buying her a book and pen.  It’s always nice to support them.

Our girl getting 2 awards in 1 day at school (okay so strictly speaking that was last week!)  One involved sitting on the Head’s lunch table!

For making gingerbread houses.  It wouldn’t have made a magazine photo shoot but we had fun and they were yummy with hot chocolate!

For getting a fab new phone.  It’ll make blogging/social media so much easier.

For a cosy night in – hygge style.  I know that Katy at WhatKatySaid also enjoys her cosy nights (and days!)!

For seeing our daughter with her cousins and hearing them giggling.  Priceless!

For a lie-in (another one from last week – well, the weekend actually!)

For bargain brownies!

For laughter with hubby 🙂

~

So that’s my happy this week and my happy word is ‘laughter’ because let’s face, it every little helps and all that!

How about you?  I’d love to hear about your ‘happy’ in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere using #HighlightsofHappy

It’s another bumper week of happiness!  I love that sometimes, you don’t actually realise just what a good week you’ve had until things like post a blog about it all!  And I’m grateful that:

I

Our daughter has been singing and dancing at every opportunity!  It’s lovely to see and hear her expressing herself!

For discovering a gratitude advent calendar on facebook.  It’s such a simple yet effective thing to do.

For our girl sharing her maltesers.  I walked through the door after Christmas shopping and hubby and our daughter were watching a Christmas film.  I got a handful of chocolate! 🙂

Our daughter’s school Christmas fayre was great fun and it was lovely to get involved.

Seeing our daughter with her friends and hearing them giggling together.  I often wonder which of these friends will also be around in the teenage years…  What a lovely thought!

For our girl getting her parcels delivered.  She spent her job money this week and she’d been saving a fair bit of it up.

For bumping into a very good family friend at a local Christmas market and her buying our daughter a bauble for our tree.  Because I had told her on the school run that she was going to be decorating our tree.  How kind!

Seeing the local lights switch on and everything that goes with it.  The tat, the raffles, the yummy proper chip shop chips, the drink int he local pub afterwards.  it’s all turning into something of a tradition and it was lovely to share it cousins and other family.  Just lovely!

Getting a new phone upgrade – goodbye dodgy phone!  I should be able to sort out my duplicate instagram posts soon!

~

So that’s my happy this week and my happy word is ‘lights’ because they’re so pretty, they lift your mood and it’s such a lovely occasion where the whole community gets involved!

3-is-it-your-magic-number-highlights-of-happy-21-gratitude-journal-grateful-happiness-positivity-positive-thinking

In my weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal and bring to you my #HighlightsofHappy , which is great because it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…

…so what’s made me happy this week?

Being focussed on my goals for 2017.  I don’t do new year’s resolutions but I do focus on achievable goals… It works for me 🙂

For an emotional daughter being able to talk to me.  Sometimes, they just need to talk it out and then have lots of cuddles too…

For being able to go to our girl’s school Christmas production.  She’s narrator, though she’d much rather be in the choir…

For a lovely, random trip to London – specifically Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.  I posted on instagram one of the highlights..

What a wonderful time we had at the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland over the weekend! It was a very random trip. “Let’s go to Winter Wonderland”, we said. And within the hour we were on a train and having a lovely family day out! All the nicer because it was so random, I think. Just look at these lights (though my photography skills certainly don’t do them justice!). Oh and just for the record, a stall inside did the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. So smooth and well, chocolatey! So often it can just be dirty water at these events! Well worth going back to @winterwonderldn next year! Have you been? . . #HighlightsofHappy #MyHappyCapture #LifeCloseUp #TheMagicinEveryday #makemesmile #happy #happinesseverywhere #capturingtheday #capturemypositive #sparkle #WinterWonderland #HydePark #London #FamilyFun #dayout #Hoponatrain #memoriesaremadeofthis #mydarlingmemory

For the smoothest, most velvety hot chocolate ever… at the Winter Wonderland.  Yum!

That our daughter bought home ‘the box’.  Each week, a child in her class gets to take it home to pop a few things inside, then they talk about them in class.  She’s been waiting since September to get the box and was so very excited!  Who knew a box could bring so much joy?… 🙂

For getting Christmas sorted, including the tree…

‘tis the season… Our daughter has been asking to decorate the tree since November! Finally, today after school, she posted her letter to Father Christmas and then she decorated! We promised she could do it on 1st December… I watched and soaked up the magic while she did it herself and only helped for the higher branches. What I love is the memories that come back of when I used to decorate our family tree. So many happy memories. We have a couple of pictures of her on the home-made pre-school and school decs – she’s changed so much and yet has stayed exactly the same. She’s still beautiful, of course! On another note, I wonder how long til the cats start sniffing around it…! . . #HighlightsofHappy #MyHappyCapture #LifeCloseUp #TheMagicinEveryday #LittleFierceOnes #FamilyFun #makemesmile #happy #happinesseverywhere #capturingtheday #capturemypositive #happylittlebuttons #mydarlingmemory #Christmas #Tistheseason #decorating #feelingfestive #happymemories #deckthehalls

Yes, we’re organised and have just got to wait for a few deliveries… and then relax!

~

So that’s my happy this week and my happy word is ‘box’ because a little (well, shoebox sized!) cardboard box brought so much joy to our house this week! 🙂

And although my word wasn’t ‘Christmas’, here’s a little vid of the nativity scene our daughter set up at the bottom of our tree…

I’m grateful that:

I had some time out with just me (well, hubby for a while).  I love documentaries and caught up with Planet Earth on the BBC iplayer.  For non-UK readers- I’m sure you can find it on YouTube somewhere.  It wasn’t really hubby’s cup of tea so he didn’t watch it all but I love the behind the scenes when they show you how they film it.  Fascinating and breath-taking!

We wrote to Father Christmas!  Yes, we are posting in the next week.  It’s such a magical time isn’t it?  It’s so important to savour these magical moments before they grow up too much…

Our daughter saw her grandparents and had proper belly laughs, right from the toes.  Nothing beats that sound really does it?  Giggles are the best.

We didn’t get too wet in the bad weather on the school run this week.  I know we got off very lightly compared to some areas and getting wet isn’t really going to hurt anyone but starting the day off damp instead of drenched is always a good thing…

I spent time at home with the people I love.  That’s all.  Just home, with the people that mean the world to me.

~

So that’s my happy this week and my happy word is ‘giggles’ because I will never be too busy to listen to our daughter have belly laughs with her grandparents 🙂

Let’s find 3 things to be happy and grateful for!

3-is-it-your-magic-number-highlights-of-happy-19-gratitude-journal-grateful-happiness-positivity-positive-thinking-super-moon-energies-universal-energy

Link up to the latest post here!

I’m grateful that:

I took delivery of a (rain-spotted!) parcel from the post office.  I had a ‘sorry we missed you’ card from the postie and knew it was likely to be 1 of 2 things.  So, I set up my tripod and unboxed as I went!  Out popped Kiki from Message in a Bottle.  Our daughter was nearly as excited as me when she saw the cuddly toy!

I took our daughter on a random trip out when we would usually be getting tea ready.  We went to pick up hubby from work and to miss the rush hour traffic on the way, we stopped off at a cafe for a pastry!  On the way out, she saw one of those grabbing machines and said that she didn’t have her money with her but she could pay me back when we got home.  And with no prompting, she did 🙂

I solved the issue of the volume on the unboxing vlog!  I couldn’t work it out and was close to deleting (would rather not post than have massively dodgy sound!) before I realised that my ear phones were plugged into the monitor…  Whoops!  Won’t be making that mistake again!

For arranging 2 play dates in the next 2 weeks after school.  I love when our girl’s friends come round!

For seeing the super moon with hubby!  The clouds parted (or at least thinned out!) just as we looked out.  And then we got our daughter up out of bed to see the occasion – she was excited, despite having her bedtime reading interrupted!  A browse through my blog and my Virtually Everything About Me section in my sidebar will tell you that I’m interested in healing, reiki, crystal healing and universal energies.  The moon is no exception and I find it utterly fascinating…

So that’s my happy this week and my happy word is ‘super’ because it really was and we looked out at just the right time 🙂

Are you looking for the perfect gift?… (and a giveaway with a difference!)

So, you’re looking for the perfect gift?  That special something for that special someone with a little bit of ‘something’ different?  A little bit special?  A little bit unique?
Rest up your feet and look no more.  Because I have the perfect present for that special child in your life…
and yes, as the picture below says, I have a giveaway with a difference!
message-in-a-bottle-discount-code-giveaway-personalised-book-for-children-blueberry-and-pie-publishing-launch-team
You can read my review here, and you can see my unboxing of my Message in a Bottle parcel below…
In the unboxing I was so excited to find the postcards that you see in the picture above.  I love that they’ve got the airmail mark around the edge because that’s the main theme of the book – the lovable bird called Kiki HAS to get the personalised message to the special someone, even if that means travelling far and wide to do so!
~
I was even more excited when I turned the postcards over and on the back I saw a discount card for 15% off the book!
And then I thought I would give my lovely readers a treat.  “How wonderful would it be for them to be able to enter a giveaway to win one of these postcards through the post?” I thought.   (Imagine a postie dressed up as Kiki the bird for authenticity!) WITH a discount code to use.  At the time of this post being published, the code can be used in time for Christmas, but really it’s ideal for anytime of the year, for any occasion!
 ~
So yes, the review post has 15% off for the first 10 ‘grabbers’ and this post is a giveaway for a different discount code which involves you giving me your postal address (to be given when the winners are drawn) and then 4 of you receiving a postcard with the discount code on the back!  Wonderful!  As with all my giveaways, I’d like to point out that your mailing address (and of course your email address) will not be passed on to any 3rd party.  That info is in the T&Cs (see giveaway below) but because this is a giveaway with a difference, I felt the need to state it here too 🙂
~
When the lucky winners receive their postcards with discount codes, all you have to do is refer to this blogpost again and click here to redeem!  Easy peasy!  The giveaway is open to UK entrants and ends at 12am on 21sh November 2016. Good luck to you!
 ~

Just for fun, which postcard would you like to receive – the owl or Kiki the bird? I say ‘just for fun’ because there’s no guarantee you will get your chosen one – but I’ll see what I can do! I’d love to know!  Please comment below or tweet me @AllSortsHere

In my new weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal and bring to you my #HighlightsofHappy , which is great because it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…

…so what’s made me happy this week?  You can find out by watching my short vlog or read the words below 🙂

Time with hubby ~ chocolate, TV and just chilling.  Lovely 🙂

Making bracelets with our daughter.  One of my favourite times with her is when she/we are ‘making’.

Playing with our daughter ~ animal i-spy.  When you play this game on a daily basis, it becomes something of a challenge due to the limited amount of animals you can name with something beginning with “_”.  But I’m determined to enjoy these games because I know she won’t want to play them forever…

More chocolate but all for me this time!  A new discovery that is fast becoming my favourite.  For UK readers, if you haven’t tried the Co-op Fairtrade milk chocolate with Himalayan salt and caramel… try it!

Being cosy when it’s raining outside. I love autumn but nothing beats a bit of hygge cosiness 🙂

Seeing the funny side of life.  I’ve had a few moments that have made me see the funny side and for that I’m very grateful.

A good sort out in our daughter’s room, resulting in a couple of bags to the charity shop.  De-cluttering and sorting.  Bliss!

Time with cousins.  When our girl gets together with her cousins, it’s just beautiful to see.  They all gel so well together.  She loves them and they love her.

Oh and mince pies.  But these are no ordinary mince pies.  For UK readers again – try Sainsburys mince pies.  They are amaaazing!

So that’s my happy this week and my happy word is ‘cousins’ because they all just ‘click’ 🙂

Our local community arranged a fireworks display the night the clocks went back (this has snuck into this week’s HOH post!)  It was like a mini fairground and the fireworks were amazing 🙂

We took advantage of a meal deal for a fiver.  Just heat the oven, cook and eat.  A yummy, scrummy, bargain!

Our cat got into a fight and definitely came off worse.  We’ve had to be very careful with handling/stroking her this week.  This has upset our daughter a bit because they’re used to their cuddles  but on the positive side, she’s shown patience, compassion and love towards her cat.  Pets are so good for our children (and us!)

We popped along to a local outlet and stumbled upon some country gardens which our girl loved exploring.  Just beautiful!

We had a big tidying up and de-cluttering session after half term.  Bliss!

Mum took our daughter to a party when myself and hubby weren’t able to.  So grateful!

Our daughter was excited about donating money for a poppy wristband at school.  And the discussion this generated about the Poppy Appeal.  It’s tricky to explain it to a 7 year old but she seems to understand the concept.

A year after she started at a her new school, seeing how our daughter has settled in, hearing her teacher say she’s ‘delightful’ and is thriving, hearing her talk about her new friends, having some round for tea after school and above all, seeing her happy.  It’s a cliche but it makes us happy!

So that’s my happy this week and it’s been another one where it’s been so difficult to choose but ‘garden’ is my happy word because of the family time it brought 🙂

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…

Except this week’s has a twist.  It’s half term and spending some quality time with our daughter has made me really happy.  So, I asked her what has made her happy this week…

Here’s our vlog that tells you about her happy (she made her very first vlog recently for our Jam Packed Crafts review and I asked her what would be in her lego garden…).

So our daughter’s happy words are about toy shopping and baking cookies.  And the best word that sums up both of our weeks is, hands down, ‘happy’! 🙂

3-is-it-your-magic-number-15-wonga-highlights-of-happy-gratitude-journal-grateful-happiness-positivity-positive-thinking

In my new weekly feature, I will look back over my gratitude journal and bring to you my #HighlightsofHappy , which is great because it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂

I will then round it off with one word that sums up my happy.

So, what am I happy and grateful for this week?  I seem to have a bumper selection for you this week!  There’s been plenty of happiness to go round 🙂  Here’s my vlog that tells you.  And if you’d rather read all about it, see below the vlog 🙂

I’ve got another bumper list for you this week and I am grateful…

For rainbow pictures.  I can’t help but smile when I see a rainbow…

For getting our girl school tights.  I had tried several shops and they never had the right colour in the right size.  She looks so much cosier now and says it’s much better 🙂

For new boots with a discount!

That I’ve got exciting new opportunities arising for this lovely blog of mine 🙂

For a good hair day.

For money off petrol.  Always a winner!

That our daughter decorated her harvest festival bag so nicely.

That I remembered to give her change for her disco spending money which meant she could get a rainbow tattoo (more rainbows!) and a sweet.

For ordering my tripod for my camera so that I can vlog without getting the shakes!

For washed and dried uniform on a Friday night because of a non-uniform day.  I love when this happens!

For finding hubby’s wallet before he cancelled any cards.

For making a home-made movie adventure.

For catching up with old friends and building up new friendships.

For medicine for a daughter who clearly had a bit of a bug… and that she appears to have slept it off. 🙂

My happy word this week?  It’s ‘wonga’ because much of the happiness has centred around saving, bargains, finding and remembering change!

How about you?  I’d love to hear about your ‘happy’ in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere using #HighlightsofHappy
