Time for a dose of happiness in #HighlightsofHappy blog linky #41 ~ because life’s for the good stuff

It's Time For A Dose of Happiness In #HighlightsofHappy 41 Blog linky Because Life's For The Good Stuff Achievement Poem Published

Your weekly dose of happiness…

Let’s spread the happiness!

It’s a common phrase isn’t it?…

“Bad things come in 3’s”

or words similar to that!

So, let’s flip it because everyone deserves a little happiness … (you know how I love to spread happiness and turn a negative into a positive with positive thinking !)

Let’s spread that happiness and find 3 things to be grateful for (or even more… well, why not?!)

It's Time For A Dose of Happiness In #HighlightsofHappy 41 Blog linky Because Life's For The Good Stuff Achievement Poem Published

In my weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal because that’s the great thing about gratitude and using my gratitude journal – it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂  And that’s what I do here, in my weekly feature, I look back and on my #HighlightsofHappy.

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…  why not do the same?

If you’re a blogger, why not share your happy post from the last week or so in the linky below?

If you’re on instagram, why not tag your happy snap #HighlightsofHappy and link up your pic in the linky below?

If you’re on twitter, why not tweet your happy with #HighlightsofHappy ?

If you’re all 3, why not do all 3??  The linky is below. (To link your insta happy snap, simply click on your insta pic, copy the url and paste into the linky tool!)

(If you join in with my #HighlightsofHappy community on instagram, I post up my favourite snaps every Monday on instagram.)

…so what’s been making ME happy?

Easily one of the things that has made me smile from ear to ear, that has made my heart completely and utterly burst with joy and that has absolutely made my week is our daughter having her poem published in a poetry anthology!  I did the usual rummage in her school bag for stray permission slips, spellings etc and came across an envelope.  I skim-read the letter, thinking that it was about the upcoming SATS and therefore not paying much attention (I’m not in the slightest bit concerned about them – because although she’s bright, I wouldn’t be concerned anyway – and I’d digest it at leisure later, I thought).  THEN I read ‘I’m delighted to tell you that {our wonderful daughter} has had a poem chosen for an upcoming poetry anthology.’  As it happened, she’d come home from school feeling bit sick (I’m sure it was just indigestion) but knew this would cheer her up.  I told that out of 11,000 entries, her poem is one chosen to be published at the end of July.  As a creative writer who loves to write poetry myself, and as a mum who is utterly passionate about literacy as a whole, this, yes THIS made my day and I’m sure I was more excited about it than our daughter purely because she didn’t ‘get’ the enormity of it!  We waited patiently for daddy to get home from work, not wanting to tell him over the phone, rang the grandparents, popped it on speakerphone and shouted it from the rooftops!  Of course, we’ve already ordered our books!

and this…

Seeing a golden sticker on our daughter’s school dress as she came out for end of day in the playground on Friday.  That golden sticker means that she’s been to see the Head for something.  And it was for her poem.  There are 3 others in her class that are being published too and they’ve all done so well 🙂

Can’t you just tell that the VirtuallyAllSorts household is buzzing this week?!?  I’ve noted down other things in my gratitude journal this week but without a doubt, this comes top!

~

So that’s my happy and my happy word is ‘achievement’ because quite frankly, there couldn’t BE another word really now could there?  By next week, I may probably won’t have come down from cloud 9 so be prepared for more of this proud mummy!

And how about you?  I’d love to hear about your ‘happy’ in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere using #HighlightsofHappy

Go on, share your happy with me!

Thanks 🙂

Anyone who follows me on Instagram will know that I’ve posted a few smiley faces using random objects.

What started out as a totally random moment has turned into a lightbulb moment… to share our #HighlightsofHappy on instagram!  I love how the little HOH community is growing.  Please spread the word and we’ll get even more happiness being shared 🙂

To join in, simply post a pic of your ‘happy’ on IG and remember to tag it #HighlightsofHappy (so we can all find it!)  It’s open all week and every Sunday I will choose my favourite to showcase on IG and a dedicated blog post…

As long as it’s your happy and you’d like to share it, then go ahead!  Branching out into making smiley faces is optional 😉

If you’d like to, you can also include a line or 2 telling us why it makes you happy 🙂

I’ve had more lovely people joining in this week and I thank you so much for helping to spread the happiness by sharing your highlights 🙂

Don’t forget that it’s also the opportunity to link up your favourite IG happy pic to the blogpost (by copying the url of the photo you choose in your instagram).

Here are my favourites from this week…

~

The first happy snap this week is from @dear_mummy with her tired little one.  They had barely (see what I did there?!)  got the Pudsey face paint off and they were in the land of nod!

~

Next, @over40andmumtoone shared her son’s achievements… which have made a proud mummy.  And rightly so!

I could not be any prouder of this boy today. He started the day by joining in with #CiN at school and their Spotacular day. This is a first, dressing up and wearing it to school. Then he came home with an Achiever of the Week award for his stunning story writing. I saw the work earlier in the week – it was amazing. The change since September is beyond belief. As if these two things weren’t amazing enough. My terribly shy little boy stood up in front of the whole school and read out his story. Flipping amazing. He just proves that anything is possible and that, as always, he does things in his own time. Being 6 has been a journey of discovery for him. I cannot wait to see where being 7 will take him. He totally rocks.

Caroline at @BecomingaSAHM posted up her happy snap of her son’s lovely letter from school.  Tired set in and … well read for yourself!

And Karen @TwoTinyHands captured the love her son The Robot has for his Gran.  I love this picture!

Loving his Gran!

Let’s find 3 things to be happy and grateful for!

(or even more… I mean, why not?!)

In my new weekly feature, I will look back over my gratitude journal and bring to you my #HighlightsofHappy , which is great because it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂

I will then round it off with one word that sums up my happy.

So, what am I happy and grateful for this week?  Here’s my vlog that tells you.  If you’d rather read all about it, see below the vlog 🙂

For diaries and planners ~ being Miss Organised, I wouldn’t feel complete without them and not wishing the time away, I’m looking forward to getting my 2017 set!

For yumminess ~ strawberries, chocolate pancakes and squirty cream.

That our girl got a golden sticker from the Headteacher ~ her friend nominated her for being kind.  Only 3 children in her class got a golden sticker; it wasn’t across the board!

For more yumminess ~ croissants and bacon.

For smiley faces ~  I’ve been sharing some smiley faces made from ‘themed’ objects… proof that you can find a smile anywhere if you look hard enough and often in the most unlikely places.

For our daughter doing my make-up and me hers!  We used chopped up sponge and water… and lots of imagination.  Shame – I’d have loved to post up a picture of all those rainbow colours on my face!

For down-time with our daughter ~ watching TV with her after school and ‘zoning out’ with her 🙂

My happy word this week is ‘golden’ because it’s not everyday you get a golden sticker for being kind.

How about you?  I’d love to hear about your ‘happy’ in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere using #HighlightsofHappy

Go on, share your happy with me!

Thanks 🙂

…for the love of words ~ life quote

“Youth would be an ideal state if it came a little later in life.”
H. H. Asquith, 1852 – 1928, Earl of Oxford
~
In many ways this  life quote is profoundly true and yet as is usual, it depends which way you look at it:
Physically, I’m sure we would feel a little better if we were younger than our days.
But mentally, we surely have more experience and wisdom under our proverbial belts later in life…

For the love of words… keep going

This week none of the ‘footnotes’ in my desk diary were especially positive or inspirational.  Therefore, I have turned to my trusty ‘Inspirational Words to Live By‘ board on Pinterest and decided on this keep going quotes which was repinned by me via Liesbeth Bosteels.
