Time for a dose of happiness in #HighlightsofHappy blog linky #35 ~ because life’s for the good stuff

It's time for a dose of happiness in #HighlightsofHappy 35 blog linky because life's for the good stuff. We look back on the week with gratitude

Your weekly dose of happiness…

Let’s spread the happiness!

It’s a common phrase isn’t it?…

“Bad things come in 3’s”

or words similar to that!

So, let’s flip it because everyone deserves a little happiness … (you know how I love to spread happiness and turn a negative into a positive with positive thinking !)

Let’s spread that happiness and find 3 things to be grateful for (or even more… well, why not?!)

In my weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal because that’s the great thing about gratitude and using my gratitude journal – it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂  And that’s what I do here, in my weekly feature, I look back and on my #HighlightsofHappy.

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…  why not do the same?

If you’re a blogger, why not share your happy post from the last week or so in the linky below?

If you’re on instagram, why not tag your happy snap #HighlightsofHappy and link up your pic in the linky below?

If you’re on twitter, why not tweet your happy with #HighlightsofHappy ?

If you’re all 3, why not do all 3??  The linky is below. (To link your insta happy snap, simply click on your insta pic, copy the url and paste into the linky tool!)

(If you join in with my #HighlightsofHappy community on instagram, I post up my favourite snaps every Monday on instagram.)

…so what’s been making ME happy?

It was my birthday and our daughter found me some pretty nick-nacks from her bedroom (her newly de-cluttered bedroom!) and ‘wrapped’ them up for me!

We went out for birthday food, just the 3 of us.  It was yummy and lovely to spend time with hubby and our girl.

My brilliant mum baked me a lovely cake (apparently she had instructions from our daughter!).  It was chocolate, with sprinkles.  🙂

Seeing our daughter come bouncing out of her cheerleading club.  I wasn’t sure how she’d be, seeing as she was sick over the weekend.  It can often take a few days for children to recover fully energy-wise can’t it?  Well, she loved it, though she did go straight to sleep that night, with little or no reading to her teddies!

I had pizza for lunch.  It must have made an impression because it’s in my journal!  Well, why wouldn’t it be?  But you see, that’s the whole point.  That day, the pizza was a highlight and I was able to take the good from the day and write it down.  Always grateful, no matter how small it may be…

So that’s my happy and my happy word is ‘nick-nacks’ because having them wrapped up haphazardly with love and then thrust in my hand… what more could you want? 🙂

How about you?  I’d love to hear about your ‘happy’ in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere using #HighlightsofHappy

Go on, share your happy with me!

Thanks 🙂

A Letter from Buckingham Palace … yes really!

Once upon a time a little girl (our little girl!) received a letter from Buckingham Palace.  And here’s why…

A letter from Buckingham Palace monarchy The Queen royalty royal family royal baby birthday school parenting envelope 1 edit final

Once upon a time there was a little girl in her first year at school.  She loved going to school and learning about all sorts of things…

One day, in her school book bag, her mummy came across a picture of London which the little girl had coloured in.  Her class had been asked to colour in pictures of The Queen and London because they were learning about the monarchy and the Queen’s birthday.

When her mummy said what a beautiful picture it was and how neatly she had coloured it in, the little girl told her mummy that she would like to send it to The Queen for her birthday.

And so, together with her mummy and daddy, the little girl wrote a short note to The Queen to say “Happy Birthday Ma’am!”

Soon after the little girl had posted the birthday card to Her Majesty, she visited London with her mummy and daddy and it happened to be the same day that the new Royal baby, Princess Charlotte was born!

While in London, the little girl visited Buckingham Palace (barely an hour before the announcement of the royal birth was officially made on the easel!).  She also visited Big Ben, Horse Guard’s Parade, Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden.

The little girl sent a postcard to her teacher telling her that she had visited London.  The postcard had a photo of The Queen on the front.

A few weeks passed and life carried on as normal.  Then, one day the little girl received some rather special post through her letterbox.  The envelope was postmarked ‘Buckingham Palace’ with the Royal Crest.  The little girl opened the letter and the opening line read:

Dear ‘Little Girl’,
The Queen wishes me to write and thank you for your message which you sent on the occasion of Her Majesty’s eighty-ninth birthday.
The remaining contents advised that The Queen had been interested to learn that her class had been learning about the Royal Family, and some lovely, glossy, informative leaflets about the monarchy were enclosed.  The letter was signed by The Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting.
Needless to say, a copy or two several copies  were taken of the original letter ‘just in case’ and a copy was taken into school the next day.  The original will most definitely be framed to keep it safe while on display 🙂

Paper reigns ~ April #PaperyPeep

Happy birthday Queen Elizabeth card activity monarchy The Queen

A birthday card for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth

I have discovered that paper reigns.  Quite appropriate that I blog about it for my March #PaperyPeep post then…

Our Little Bear’s class has been learning about The Queen’s birthday, the monarchy and all things London.

This week she popped a colouring in sheet in her book bag to bring home.

Happy birthday Queen Elizabeth card activity monarchy The Queen 2

It had been completed during one of the many Queen-related activities at school and Our Little Bear decided that she would like to send it to Her Majesty for her birthday…

Great idea!  Oh, but wait, she decided this the day before her birthday.  It doesn’t matter much in a 5 year old’s world of course but still… you can’t send royalty a belated birthday ‘card’!  I don’t fancy a trip to the Tower of London – I value my head!

No problem… technology to the rescue.  “We can scan it in and email it to The Queen,” I told Our Little Bear.

Not so.  There is no email address for anything Queen-related.  It seems that paper and snail mail really do rule!  So a belated birthday card it was!  At least it had a first class stamp on.

Was that a wink I saw from The Queen as I popped the stamp on her birthday card?…
