I’ve got a trick up my sleeve… ~ #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’ve got a little poem for you!

#TheZenZing trick up my sleeve vicks tricks soothing calming ill get well soon parenting first defence children illness sick energising
Do you like fairytales?  I must admit I do!

And you’re in luck cos here’s a happy ending just for you!

This tale starts with sniffles, coughs and ‘atishooooo!’

And then, oh no, your child catches it from you…

There’s lots of cuddles to go round, a TV show or two,

Lots of rest and reading time to get them feeling just like new!

But wait, there’s another trick right up my sleeve,

It helps their airways unblock and helps them to breath…

A dab of ‘magic’ on their night clothes, their blanket or their teddy,

Means a better sleep all round; get set, we’re ready!

‘Cos rest is what they need when their immune system’s low,

Lots of cuddles on the sofa, it’s time to take it slow.

The ‘magic’ is Vicks VapoRub, a classic first aid trick,

That parents rely on when little ones are sick.

#VicksTricks are an essential for any child who is unwell,

They’ll pick up in no time, which is great for you as well!

Vicks believe that traditional love, fun & laughter are key to comfort your children when they aren’t feeling themselves. That’s why Vicks have developed a series of sharable #VicksTricks magic videos that are simple, easy and great fun to replicate!  Like this sliced banana one, which is mine and our daughter’s favourite!
Family Psychologist Corinne Sweet highlights that “one of the most powerful antidotes to sickness developing further, is parental care and concern.”  And I couldn’t agree more!

It’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂

Why I became interested in crystals ~ #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you why I became interested in crystals!

thezenzing-crystals-healing-aura-energise-cleanse-program-properties-healing
~
It all started when I was introduced to the world of reiki.  I received a treatment and learnt more about chakras – the openings (or at least they should be open…) that let in universal life energy.  It wasn’t long until I was attuned to reiki level 1 and was meditating with a crystal one night.
~
At the time, my crystal collection was very small.  I had a set of tumble stones in the colours of the chakra and a couple more but that was about it.
So, I was meditating with an amethyst crystal in my hand and I was really relaxing.  I could feel the pleasant pull of the energy, clearing all those blockages and gently realigning and rebalancing my chakras. (Here’s a little poem that tells you a little more about chakras.  It’s one of my personal favourites in fact!)
~
I had meditated before, being a bit of a hippy at heart.  But when I saw the colour purple vividly and unmistakably flash across my field of vision, with my eyes closed, I realised I was experiencing something new and incredible.
You see, in case you didn’t know, the amethyst crystal is purple and is aligned with the third eye chakra (on your forehead just above the in between bit of your eyebrows.)  And since I had been attuned, some channels had clearly been unblocked, opened and the energy was obviously flowing freely.  What an incredible world this crystal had opened up to me!
~
I read up some more about what crystals might be beneficial to my home and me personally.
And one day I came across an amazing stall on Camden Market (London) with a friend.  While I’d love to live just a little closer to London, my purse-strings would suffer because of this stall!
The person running the stall was extremely knowledgable and was more than happy for customers (browsers and knowledgable buyers alike) to look, touch, ask, ponder, get in the zone…
This day my friend saw a black tourmaline crystal, held it in their hand and it felt ‘right’, so they bought it.
~
Their workplace was full of negative people.  The negative vibes oozed off them, onto her and lingered.  Oh my goodness, did they linger?…
Until my friend carried their cleansed and programmed black tourmaline crystal in their pocket for the day.
No negativity appeared to seep into them.  It seemed to be repelled, bouncing off her and back at the negative ‘carriers’ surrounding her.
~
I also know of a lady who had a rose quartz pendant around her neck.  She liked to wear it because she was going through some emotional difficulty and wanted it to be close to her heart.  Over the years, she says, the rose quartz has faded to very nearly white.
There are plenty more experiences I could recount, both personal and not.  But I wanted to illustrate where my intrigue for crystals comes from.
~
I was inspired to learn more and signed up for a Crystal Healing Practitioner’s course, which was a distance learning course and I recently completed it with a distinction.  I learnt about crystal auras, their properties, how to cleanse them, program them and nurture them.
And in the new year I will be launching my Bespoke Crystals feature right here, on my blog.  Because I’d love to help you if you experience things such as anxiety or insomnia or anything else.
Crystals can help you.  They can benefit you.  And that also means that they can benefit those around you.
When it launches, I’ll be offering a discount off the normal price and details will follow very soon.  Subscribe to make you sure you don’t miss the updates…
It’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂
~
Are you intrigued by crystals?  Did you know much about them before you read this? I’d love to hear from you.  Please comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere and use the #TheZenZing hashtag.
Thank you 🙂

Win a chakra bracelet ~ giveaway

Hello and welcome to another exciting giveaway!

Yes, you can win this pretty chakra bracelet.

jewellery giveaway chakra bracelet wellbeing spirituality chakras balanced aligned beads pin

You will see that the bracelet is a string of coloured beads appropriate to each chakra.  You can see the corresponding chakra colours in last week’s #TheZenZing post when I looked at how you can ‘reset’ yourself by doing a chakra cleanse.  Now, to help you along the way, here is a chance to win a chakra bracelet (see the rafflecopter below).
~
But first ‘Where is the beginning?’ A poem on chakras…
~

What’s at the beginning?

It all starts at the root,

When we’re not grounded,

A branch can’t develop its shoots.

~

Our branches need feeding

With healthy, wholesome foods,

If not, they’re ‘unbalanced’

And affect our moods.

~

When we work from the bottom

And end up at the top,

We have spinning wheels, or

‘chakras’ which never stop…

~

Want to feel peaceful and calm?

Meditate daily, don’t be shy,

And your friends they may comment,

Share the love, tell them why…

~

…Why you’re feeling grounded

And rooted, like a tree to the earth.

Why those positive thoughts and good food

Give a sense of self-worth.

~

…Why you’re feeling creative

Bursting with thoughts and ideas,

As they ebb and flow like the water,

Eroding your fears.

~

…Why your ego’s not ‘pumped up’,

You’re calm and ‘together’,

You don’t listen to the bad things,

You don’t need ‘lucky heather’.

~

…Why your breathing’s steady and easy

While your heart pumps fresh air,

Pure and cleansed through your body,

To keep you alert and ‘all there’.

~

…Why you’re feeling expressive

And you’re speaking your mind,

Being open and clear,

It’s the best way, you will find.

~

…Why your sixth sense is open,

It’s your third eye, you see.

Is your perception of reality

With them or with ‘me’?

~

…Why your crown’s like a flower,

Its stem’s like your spine,

A petal for each chakra

Now you’re upright and ‘aligned’.

~

Now you’re beginning to see

What your thoughts can do,

Breathe slowly, be mindful

That it all starts with you.

How to reset yourself … relax with #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you how you can reset yourself by way of a chakra cleanse.

And look out for a chakra bracelet giveaway this month on my blog!

#TheZenZing energy energising health wellbeing chakra cleanse balance realign meditate visualisation
We are all full of energy – whether good or bad…
~
We each have 7 main ‘openings’ known as chakras.
~
Our chakras should be fully open to allow for the universal life force (the energy) which surrounds us to enter our ‘being’ (our aura) and to allow the energy to flow freely, as it should.
~
When the energy flows freely though our auric layers and into our meridian lines, it keeps our chakras balanced and aligned.
~
Why is it so important to keep our chakras balanced and aligned?
~
Well, you will recall that our chakras should be open to allow the energy to flow through them?
~
If one or more of these chakras is not opened, the energy cannot enter our being and therefore we become out of balance.
~
When we get blockages, the energy cannot flow at ‘ease’ and we can get ‘dis-ease’.
~
You can see now why it is important to look after yourself, to keep your chakras balanced and aligned…
~
Our chakras are coloured as follows:
  • Root – red (base of your spine)
  • Sacral – orange
  • Solar Plexus – yellow (your abdomen area)
  • Heart – green
  • Throat – blue
  • Third Eye – violet (forehead just above and between your brows)
  • Crown – white

~

To cleanse your chakras and ‘reset’ yourself you can do a visualisation exercise ~ sit or lay with your eyes closed, starting at the root, imagine a ball of the relevant chakra colour moving up your body.  All the while be mindful of your breathing.  When you get to your crown chakra, imagine the ball of white light enveloping you in a warm cocoon…
Try it and notice how you feel…
~
Boost your zing and encourage your zen.
It’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂
~
How did you feel after your chakra cleanse?  Do you meditate regularly?  I’d love to hear from you.  Please comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere and use the #TheZenZing hashtag.
Thank you 🙂

What I’m writing ~ #WonderfulWorldofWriting

what im writing righting #nextbigthing nextbigthing nbt chakras wellbeing children's stories series investment project #WonderfulWorldofWriting

I’ve fallen off the rails a bit, it’s fair to say.

I’ve been a bit lack lustre in my actual writing of late.

That’s not to say that I haven’t not been writing.  That’s to say that I have been writing but more blog posts than working on my projects.  Take for example, the #AtoZChallenge which took up a fair amount of writing time, albeit by way of short, sharp blogposts.

So, a quick recap on what my current writing projects are and where I’m at with them:

#TheNextBigThing ~ a Work In Progress that’s seen me revisit where the project’s going, which angle to approach and the whole ‘point’ of it.  That’s the whole idea of writing, that it morphs into other things.  That’s what’s exciting about it.  This project is going to be book for children to help them to understand about chakras in order to manage their emotions.  I’m studying an online Crystal Healing Practitioner’s course which has taught me so much more about what I could do with this project and how I can best ‘deal’ with the subject matter.

My children’s book.  In fact, series.  I’ve kept my readers and the #WhatImWriting linkers hanging for far too long with this one.  The truth is that I wasn’t in a position to share anything due to a very exciting opportunity which involved investment in my project.  One rather big hiccup later and I find myself back in the driving seat, with more material than I had before (which is very positive) and in the midst of planning a marketing campaign for a different kind of investment.  For now, I will call this project ‘F&W’.  By the end of June I’ll be able to share even more with you because that’s my personal deadline to get things moving.  And of course I’ll be sharing what that deadline means first with #WhatImWriting 🙂

Along with the bits and pieces from other avenues, and more exciting projects on the horizon, that, ladies and gents, is what I’m writing now that I’m righting the writing!

~

Join in with #WonderfulWorldofWriting and link up with any genre of writing… I’ll share every post on twitter and other social media.  Tweet your post direct to me @AllSortsHere and I’ll retweet (it’d be great if you could use #WonderfulWorldofWriting too!)

Linky open from 0600 Wednesday to midnight the following Tuesday GMT

‘V’ is for Vibration #AtoZChallenge

Hello and welcome to my take on the #AtoZChallenge.  You can find out why I’m taking part in ‘From Alpha to Zulu and everything in between…’

Onward!

V #AtoZChallenge blog writing a to z april challenge vibrations chakras happy positive reaction lotus flowers

‘V’ is for Vibration for #AtoZChallenge

A vibration is something we feel.

When we feel something, we often react to it.

When we feel something bad, we either close up or react to it in a bad way.

When we feel something good, we often open up or react to it in a good, positive way.

Our chakras are like lotus flowers which open or close, depending on how we react to a ‘vibration’ and they need to be open to align and balance.

Let’s keep our vibrations high, positive, happy and open for ourselves and for those around us.

Our vibrations are a chain reaction…

#PositiveThinking is my new monthly blog linky and twitter party.

Join me on the last Sunday of the month ~ link up any blog post with a positive and happy theme.  Perhaps your positive thought could be connected to a goal you have in mind, something funny you heard or something funny you’ve seen.  If it’s got a PositiveThinking theme, it works for this linky 🙂 Link up as many as you like.

Let’s get the positive vibrations going good and strong and let’s share them in #HighlightsofHappy on Instagram 🙂

My NextBigThing writing project ~ more research on chakras …

what im writing blog my #NextBigThing chakras

We’re on to a new week and although I haven’t directly written anything for my NextBigThing project, I’ve been doing some more research on chakras.  Just last week I started a Crystal Healing Practitioner course and I honestly feel that it’s come along at exactly the right time.  You know when you just know and that it feels right to do something?  This is one of those moments in time for me.  Me taking on this course may come as no surprise to regular readers because I make no secret of my belief and fascination in alternative therapies using the energies surrounding us and within us, including reiki and crystal healing.  (If this all sounds a bit deep, stick around, I won’t go all philosophical for long, I promise!)

I’ve got a very small crystal collection (including one of my favourties, sunstone) and recently went on a day long course to learn more about how to using crystals for healing and how they work.  The course was very informative but I felt that I wanted to delve deeper.  I’ve recently had the opportunity to be attuned to reiki level 2 but then this Crystal Healing Practitioner course won over this time…

Already I’ve learnt more about the physiology of the body and having submitted my first assignment, I’m now learning more about the subtle body.  It truly is fascinating and I’m learning so much more about chakras – more than I actually realised I would to be honest.  When I’ve completed my next assignment and received feedback (good feedback hopefully!), I will then take a step back from my course for a day or 2 and cast my focussed eyes over my #NextBigThing again.

What ‘moments’ have you had on your writing/research journey that have felt ‘right’?

My NextBigThing writing project turned on its head…

WhatimWriting blog my #NextBigThing writing project turned on its head

Last week I took a bit of a #NextBigThing break for the purposes of this #WhatImWriting linky.  I also took an unintentional break from blogging in general due to a nasty viral infection.  This week I’m hoping to catch up with reading the #WIW posts from last week’s linky.  (Watch our for the sharing tweets!)

So back to my break from #NextBigThing ~ it was the best thing I could have done.

I still wrote for my project (in between being poorly) and in the process I seem to have turned it on its head.  A first edit of the Introduction has seen the audience change.  My #NextBigThing is all about managing your emotions through understanding chakras and it was originally going to be aimed at children from pre-school upwards.  After the edit though, I have found that the language is erring towards 8+ year olds and maybe even older.  This is okay but I am keen to re-focus on the younger age-group at some point (maybe in a whole new book).  For now though, I seem to be ‘in my flow’ and in my experience that’s something that must never be interrupted!

That’s what I love about writing.  It can be turned on its head at any point!  I really, truly believe that the analogy (yet to be revealed!) I have for my project works really well and keeps it simple…

Hopelessley devoted to writing…

whatimwriting blog linky hopelessly devoted postcircle washi tape

I’m taking a bit of a break away from my #NextBigThing project this week for the #WhatImWriting linky.  It’s heading in the right direction behind the scenes but this week I’ve been enjoying writing good old-fashioned letters 🙂  I’m now part of 2 postcircle groups and love to unwind while keeping my penpals in the loop of my goings-on.  I find it takes me to another world and lets me forget totally about my writing by partaking in another form of writing!  When I’m at the point where I need to take a little step back for 10 minutes, I pick up my pen, grab my washi tape and off I go!

Next week, normal service will resume but for now as well as being ‘hopelessly devoted to my blog’, I’m hopelessly devoted to my other form of writing 🙂 (cue the song from Grease!)
