Lifting Your Mood With The Right Lighting

Lighting can make all the difference to the mood of a room when you’re looking to update and modernise your living or office space.  It’s worth considering switching to LED lighting and it couldn’t be easier.  Especially when you choose somewhere like www.thelightingsuperstore.co.uk.

Much like ‘traditional’ bulbs, LEDs can be dimmed and come to fit all shapes and sizes of fittings and fixtures.  There’s something to suit all moods and size of space.

How To Lift Your Mood With The Right Lighting For More Positive Thinking

Somewhere to relax or revitalise

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to relax your mind or somewhere to revitalise, you can relax knowing that in the long-run you will be saving on your energy bill.

The dimmable LEDs are a fantastic tool to create your chosen atmosphere all year round because as the nights draw in and out, you can still create a cosy feel by dimming in and out.  These infographics helps to show the benefits to the environment (and your pocket) and the versatility of LEDs.

Feel the difference

The difference a well-lit room makes to your mood really can be amazing.  Not many people want a bright, starkly lit space when they’re trying to relax.  Ending the day on a calming note can really make a huge difference to a good night’s sleep and therefore a good, positive start to a new day.

It’s #LEDeasy to create the right mood.

Have you switched your lighting to suit the mood of the room?  Let me know in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere 🙂

Time for some happy in my #HighlightsofHappy #16

It’s a common phrase isn’t it?…

Bad things come in 3’s

or words similar to that!

So, let’s flip it (you know how I love to turn a negative into a positive!)

Let’s find 3 things to be happy and grateful for!

(or even more… I mean, why not?!)

3-is-it-your-magic-number-highlights-of-happy-16-gratitude-journal-grateful-happiness-positivity-positive-thinking-shopping-baking-cookies

In my new weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal and bring to you my #HighlightsofHappy , which is great because it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…

Except this week’s has a twist.  It’s half term and spending some quality time with our daughter has made me really happy.  So, I asked her what has made her happy this week…

Here’s our vlog that tells you about her happy (she made her very first vlog recently for our Jam Packed Crafts review and I asked her what would be in her lego garden…).

So our daughter’s happy words are about toy shopping and baking cookies.  And the best word that sums up both of our weeks is, hands down, ‘happy’! 🙂

How about you?  I’d love to hear about your ‘happy’ in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere using #HighlightsofHappy

Go on, share your happy with me!

Thanks 🙂

3-is-it-your-magic-number-15-wonga-highlights-of-happy-gratitude-journal-grateful-happiness-positivity-positive-thinking

In my new weekly feature, I will look back over my gratitude journal and bring to you my #HighlightsofHappy , which is great because it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂

I will then round it off with one word that sums up my happy.

So, what am I happy and grateful for this week?  I seem to have a bumper selection for you this week!  There’s been plenty of happiness to go round 🙂  Here’s my vlog that tells you.  And if you’d rather read all about it, see below the vlog 🙂

I’ve got another bumper list for you this week and I am grateful…

For rainbow pictures.  I can’t help but smile when I see a rainbow…

For getting our girl school tights.  I had tried several shops and they never had the right colour in the right size.  She looks so much cosier now and says it’s much better 🙂

For new boots with a discount!

That I’ve got exciting new opportunities arising for this lovely blog of mine 🙂

For a good hair day.

For money off petrol.  Always a winner!

That our daughter decorated her harvest festival bag so nicely.

That I remembered to give her change for her disco spending money which meant she could get a rainbow tattoo (more rainbows!) and a sweet.

For ordering my tripod for my camera so that I can vlog without getting the shakes!

For washed and dried uniform on a Friday night because of a non-uniform day.  I love when this happens!

For finding hubby’s wallet before he cancelled any cards.

For making a home-made movie adventure.

For catching up with old friends and building up new friendships.

For medicine for a daughter who clearly had a bit of a bug… and that she appears to have slept it off. 🙂

My happy word this week?  It’s ‘wonga’ because much of the happiness has centred around saving, bargains, finding and remembering change!

How about you?  I’d love to hear about your ‘happy’ in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere using #HighlightsofHappy

I am grateful that…

…that I found myself making jelly late one night because our daughter’s friend was coming the next day for a play after school.  I had to leave the jelly to cool in the microwave overnight (away from the cats!) and I had to leave a note to remind myself to pop it in the fridge in the morning!  It was very wibbly, wobbly like jelly should be, delicious and made our girl and her friend very happy.

…that we had an little adventure when we walked her friend home.  She knew a short cut that we didn’t know about.  It was a pretty little short cut and it was lovely to discover a little place, having moved house about a year ago!

…one night we had jacket potatoes for tea… melted butter and lovely, crispy skins.  Mmmmm yes please!

…that I found our daughter’s Rapunzel doll.  It was bedtime (of course!) and she decided it simply had to be found.  So I declared that we I would have one look and try again tomorrow.  After the first rummage, the doll was found!

…a year after hubby had acute appendicitis, we’ve been reflecting on how it could have been so very different, the fact that it wasn’t and that we’re all here.  Of course, we’ll be forever grateful for that!

…for the lovely rainbow picture on my instagram, as drawn by our daughter.

…and that she made rainbow cards for various people.  So colourful and cheerful.

…for a daughter who tidied her bedroom without being asked to and with apparently no ulterior motive!

…that she is giving away her DVDs in her friends’ party bags.  A kind gesture and great way to have a clear out!

…for laughing along while watching Tommy Cooper with hubby. “Just like that!’… and he wouldn’t have been able to laugh along a year ago due to his op!

So my happy word this week is ‘rainbows’ because they feature a lot this week and they describe my week so well on so many levels!

Here’s my vlog that tells you.  And if you’d rather read all about it, see below the vlog 🙂

I gave a compliment to a friend and told her that she always looked so positive and full of life.  It turned out that she felt quite rubbish from a bad infection but my kind words really lifted her and I’m grateful I could do that.

My thoughtful hubby did the food shopping and cooked tea. It was very much appreciated after a busy day.

Our girl wrote a couple of poems inspired by Roald Dahl for her homework (with a special mention for The BFG!).  They were really very good and make me smile 🙂

After school one day, our girl showed me some magic tricks and games.  It as great fun and was another thing that made me grateful this week.

After saying for a while that she would like to play the guitar, we bought our daughter a second hand child’s guitar.  Seeing her tinkering away made me very emotional.  She suits it very well and I shared a pic on instagram.  I’ve made a pact with her to practice my cords with her!

My Dad popped round to see us all and we were chatting about days gone by, about people we knew that made us laugh.  It was great to share memories and that’s good enough for a smile for me!

And when he came to see us, he left the car round the corner at the shops.  It was spitting with rain when he arrived and when he left a short while later, it was much heavier!  We offered to lend him our daughter’s pink princess brolly… and off went, walking down the street carrying a pink, see-through princess umbrella.  Giggles all around 🙂

So my happy word this week is ‘umbrella’ because I was grateful that I captured it too!

3-is-it-your-magic-number-beautiful-12-highlights-of-happy-1-gratitude-journal-grateful-happiness-positivity-positive-thinking

Here’s my vlog that tells you.  And if you’d rather read all about it, see below the vlog 🙂

For playing word games with our daughter ~ she asked for paper and then we were playing ‘hangman’ but without the little hangman sketch.  It was very impromptu and such a simple, happy moment.  It also made me feel warm and fuzzy because it made me realise just how good she is at spelling.  (#ProudMummyMoment right there!)

Science experiments ~ while I was sorting tea after school one night, our girl started to do experiments in the sink with water, pepper and soap.  She was trying to replicate an experiment she saw in Whizz Pop Bang magazine.  I love it when she goes into her own little exploring world of experiments!

Glittery hair ~ Before we went on holiday, we got some de-tangler for those inevitable times that the sea air, swimming pool, sea water and goodness knows what else got into our daughter’s hair.  It was pretty useless actually but that’s by the by.  She loves it now and decided she wanted to put in her hair while she had a bath… the night before the school photos.  Luckily it fell out in bed!

Nails ~ I posted a little pic of my wonderful nails over on Instagram this week.  What was so wonderful about them?  Our daughter turned into a nail salon and created bunnies (yes, they’re bunnies on my nails!).  My fingers seemed very bare when I took the nail varnish off (which took a while with all those layers of varnish…)

Tag ~  Oh, it’s such a simple, easy thing to some people quite possibly but I was over the moon when my #HighlightsofHappy tag got used over on Instagram.  In a recent productivity course, I set my blog goals down.  (You can sign up for it with Aby at YouBabyMeMummy). One of my goals is to grow my IG and I came up with the #HighlightsofHappy tag to follow the positive, happy, zen vibe of my blog (and compliment this weekly post too).  I’m a happy #instablogger 😉

And going back to the nails, I was very happy and grateful that I had put the duvet up at our little girl’s window for night-time before she did my nails!  (We recently swapped rooms and haven’t got round to the blackout blind yet, so the duvet makes do for now!)

We celebrated my Gran’s 90th birthday with a family gathering.  It was at the same place that our daughter was a bridesmaid last year and her dress still fits her (just), so she wore that and we all got dressed up.  Lovely!

My happy word this week is ‘beautiful’ because with nails, dresses and glitter, there’s a definite beauty theme this week!

For diaries and planners ~ being Miss Organised, I wouldn’t feel complete without them and not wishing the time away, I’m looking forward to getting my 2017 set!

For yumminess ~ strawberries, chocolate pancakes and squirty cream.

That our girl got a golden sticker from the Headteacher ~ her friend nominated her for being kind.  Only 3 children in her class got a golden sticker; it wasn’t across the board!

For more yumminess ~ croissants and bacon.

For smiley faces ~  I’ve been sharing some smiley faces made from ‘themed’ objects… proof that you can find a smile anywhere if you look hard enough and often in the most unlikely places.

For our daughter doing my make-up and me hers!  We used chopped up sponge and water… and lots of imagination.  Shame – I’d have loved to post up a picture of all those rainbow colours on my face!

For down-time with our daughter ~ watching TV with her after school and ‘zoning out’ with her 🙂

My happy word this week is ‘golden’ because it’s not everyday you get a golden sticker for being kind.

Here’s my vlog that tells you.  If you’d rather read all about it, see below the vlog 🙂

De-cluttering ~ finding a cupboard to fit in an odd/small shape, putting it together and having a sort out.  That’s better!

Heart-melting moments ~ walking home from school with our daughter, her friend caught up with us on her scooter (Dad following close behind) and gave our girl a sweet.  It was her sister’s birthday and she had some sweets left.  Sweet moments like this are catching…

I-spy ~ such a simple game but one that really did give me so much quality time and enjoyment with our daughter for a while.

Guitar ~ seeing our girl tinker on the guitar after her Daddy had tuned it in with the piano.  Then they had a mini jam together.  It was just magical and I absolutely love seeing them together like this.

Decorating ~ randomly, our daughter decided she would like to decorate her ceiling.  So, she used a light-saber type thing to point on her ceiling and asked me to stick glittery bits of paper to her ceiling 🙂

Drenched ~ we had continual rain one day this week.  It was the sort that didn’t stop all day and got faster/harder randomly through the day.  It was still warm though and our daughter went outside for a good 10 minutes and got totally drenched, laughing, jumping and having a ball in it!  I joined her too (for all of 2 minutes, in my waterproof coat!)

Turquoise ~ that I found time to paint my nails turquoise.  My favourite colour 🙂

Just because ~ Hubby bought me some beautiful flowers, my favourite dark chocolate and vanilla candles… just because!

Headband ~ Another simple thing but our daughter has jobs to do daily.  She saw a My Little Pony Fluttershy headband that she desperately wanted but didn’t quite have enough pennies.  Mid-week, she had built up enough pennies but we didn’t have enough time to get it, around the school-run and general life.  So, I popped to get it, made her day and she paid me back with her hard-earned money!

I found it near impossible to choose just one moment this week but it has to be done and my happy word this week is ‘because’ … just because I look at the beautiful flowers hubby bought me and it makes me happy each time.  (And the cats haven’t attacked them yet).

Alarm clocks! After relying on my phone alarm and having somehow silenced it, we had that awful moment of waking up and realising you’ve slept in… by a whole hour!  Yikes!  Fortunately it was only hubby that was at work that day and no school run 🙂  He now uses his phone alarm too and we’ve borrowed our daughter’s alarm clock.

For strawberry trifle, mint ice cream and crispie cakes.  Not all on the same day though!

For donating a few pennies to blood donors on my way in to do a food shop.  They were the ones on the bikes that transport the blood to where it’s needed and I had 2 blood transfusions when I gave birth to our daughter.  One of these collectors may well have transported my blood and saved my life… Dramatic, perhaps, but true.

For taking 20 minutes to start getting the garden prepared for autumn.

For leftover pizza… yum!  Without the burnt hands this time…

For duvets as the air changes temp with the seasons.

For our daughter making her new teacher a ‘welcome’ card.

That the tooth fairy collected our daughter’s tooth and left a shiny golden coin 🙂

For seeing friends again on the school run.

~

My happy word this week is ‘welcome’ because it really shows how much our daughter likes her new teacher.

After her old one left such a good impression, it’s a huge relief!

3 is it your magic number highlights of happy 8 gratitude journal grateful happiness positivity positive thinking dressings

For dressings to protect my blisters ~ top tip: when your pizza slides off the pizza tray onto the oven shelf and you grab a fish slice to rescue it, don’t put the hot pizza tray in your unprotected left hand.  It will result in having to hold your hand under cold water for 20 minutes, coping with the pain and your hubby dressing the burns. Yes, I really did this.  There were no surfaces clear in the kitchen and I instinctively swapped hands!  So long as I protected the blisters, I didn’t see any point in potentially waiting around for hours to get it dressed professionally; so out came the first aid kit and hubby set-to! (wow, that was a long snippet of ‘happy’ but I needed to explain!)

For still being relaxed after our holidays. 🙂

For blowing bubbles with our daughter.

For bargains at the shop.

For my prescription ~ despite having to pay for my prescription, I mentally reminded myself that, actually, it is subsidised by the NHS.  So ‘thank you’!

For watching our daughter do hand-stands.  Such a simple pleasure.

For an amazing bank holiday Monday ~ drenched in beautiful sunshine.

For donating ~ our daughter decided she wanted to give away some of her toys to charity, so off we walked down the road to the charity shop.  When she handed them over and was thanked, the proud look on her face made my heart melt!

For storage ~ yes, we’ve found storage thanks to Jocelyn of The Reading Residence (who I also happen to be linking up to!).  We’ve been looking for quite specific storage due to the size and shape of space.  And bingo!

My happy word this week is ‘dressings’ because without them this week, I wouldn’t have been able to do a lot!
