Time for a dose of happiness in #HighlightsofHappy blog linky #35 ~ because life’s for the good stuff

It's time for a dose of happiness in #HighlightsofHappy 35 blog linky because life's for the good stuff. We look back on the week with gratitude

Your weekly dose of happiness…

Let’s spread the happiness!

It’s a common phrase isn’t it?…

“Bad things come in 3’s”

or words similar to that!

So, let’s flip it because everyone deserves a little happiness … (you know how I love to spread happiness and turn a negative into a positive with positive thinking !)

Let’s spread that happiness and find 3 things to be grateful for (or even more… well, why not?!)

Highlightsofhappy 35 virtuallyallsorts Blog Linky Positive Thinking Gratitude Focus Happy Happiness Highlights Of Happy 35 Nick-nacks birthday Present Thoughtful

In my weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal because that’s the great thing about gratitude and using my gratitude journal – it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂  And that’s what I do here, in my weekly feature, I look back and on my #HighlightsofHappy.

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…  why not do the same?

If you’re a blogger, why not share your happy post from the last week or so in the linky below?

If you’re on instagram, why not tag your happy snap #HighlightsofHappy and link up your pic in the linky below?

If you’re on twitter, why not tweet your happy with #HighlightsofHappy ?

If you’re all 3, why not do all 3??  The linky is below. (To link your insta happy snap, simply click on your insta pic, copy the url and paste into the linky tool!)

(If you join in with my #HighlightsofHappy community on instagram, I post up my favourite snaps every Monday on instagram.)

…so what’s been making ME happy?

It was my birthday and our daughter found me some pretty nick-nacks from her bedroom (her newly de-cluttered bedroom!) and ‘wrapped’ them up for me!

We went out for birthday food, just the 3 of us.  It was yummy and lovely to spend time with hubby and our girl.

My brilliant mum baked me a lovely cake (apparently she had instructions from our daughter!).  It was chocolate, with sprinkles.  🙂

…and…

Seeing our daughter come bouncing out of her cheerleading club.  I wasn’t sure how she’d be, seeing as she was sick over the weekend.  It can often take a few days for children to recover fully energy-wise can’t it?  Well, she loved it, though she did go straight to sleep that night, with little or no reading to her teddies!

I had pizza for lunch.  It must have made an impression because it’s in my journal!  Well, why wouldn’t it be?  But you see, that’s the whole point.  That day, the pizza was a highlight and I was able to take the good from the day and write it down.  Always grateful, no matter how small it may be…

~

So that’s my happy and my happy word is ‘nick-nacks’ because having them wrapped up haphazardly with love and then thrust in my hand… what more could you want? 🙂

How about you?  I’d love to hear about your ‘happy’ in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere using #HighlightsofHappy

Go on, share your happy with me!

Thanks 🙂

Are you looking for the perfect gift?… (and a giveaway with a difference!)

 So, you’re looking for the perfect gift?  That special something for that special someone with a little bit of ‘something’ different?  A little bit special?  A little bit unique?
Rest up your feet and look no more.  Because I have the perfect present for that special child in your life…
and yes, as the picture below says, I have a giveaway with a difference!
message-in-a-bottle-discount-code-giveaway-personalised-book-for-children-blueberry-and-pie-publishing-launch-team
 You can read my review here, and you can see my unboxing of my Message in a Bottle parcel below…
In the unboxing I was so excited to find the postcards that you see in the picture above.  I love that they’ve got the airmail mark around the edge because that’s the main theme of the book – the lovable bird called Kiki HAS to get the personalised message to the special someone, even if that means travelling far and wide to do so!
~
 I was even more excited when I turned the postcards over and on the back I saw a discount card for 15% off the book!
And then I thought I would give my lovely readers a treat.  “How wonderful would it be for them to be able to enter a giveaway to win one of these postcards through the post?” I thought.   (Imagine a postie dressed up as Kiki the bird for authenticity!) WITH a discount code to use.  At the time of this post being published, the code can be used in time for Christmas, but really it’s ideal for anytime of the year, for any occasion!
 ~
So yes, the review post has 15% off for the first 10 ‘grabbers’ and this post is a giveaway for a different discount code which involves you giving me your postal address (to be given when the winners are drawn) and then 4 of you receiving a postcard with the discount code on the back!  Wonderful!  As with all my giveaways, I’d like to point out that your mailing address (and of course your email address) will not be passed on to any 3rd party.  That info is in the T&Cs (see giveaway below) but because this is a giveaway with a difference, I felt the need to state it here too 🙂
~
 When the lucky winners receive their postcards with discount codes, all you have to do is refer to this blogpost again and click here to redeem!  Easy peasy!  The giveaway is open to UK entrants and ends at 12am on 21sh November 2016. Good luck to you!
 ~

Just for fun, which postcard would you like to receive – the owl or Kiki the bird? I say ‘just for fun’ because there’s no guarantee you will get your chosen one – but I’ll see what I can do! I’d love to know!  Please comment below or tweet me @AllSortsHere

How a Kinder Surprise moment perked me up ~ #poem

kinder-surprise-pin1-get-well-soon-love-feel-better-wellbeing-present-parenting

I was feeling pretty rotten and our daughter picked up on this.

She made me a Kinder Surprise ‘get well soon’ present from some of her treasured My Little Pony haul…

Trust me, that’s special!

She carefully wrapped it all up in tissue and presented me with something to perk me up.

And it did.  Well, wouldn’t it perk you up?!

And here’s a poem inspired by my ‘kinder’ surprise 🙂

~

‘There’s nothing else quite like it…’

~

When you’re feeling poorly and want to stay in bed,

When you have to get up and face the world instead,

When your daughter makes something for you to make you right as rain,

When it makes you smile and feel like ‘you’ again…

~

It’s really such a simple thing that comes right from the heart,

It fills your heart with lots of love and that’s a great start,

It’s not on prescription and it’s completely free,

It’s the best medicine and it’s from her to me…

~

It’s filled with lots of love and cuddles and kisses galore,

It really is addictive; it keeps you wanting more,

It’s unconditional love, for when you’re feeling low,

It gets rid of the nasty bugs and gives you a warm glow…

~

There’s nothing else quite like it for when you’re feeling blue,

There’s no better way I know to make you feel like ‘you’,

There’s a natural drug that’s guaranteed to fight the bugs,

There’s a medicine that’s filled with lots of love and lots of hugs!

Has your child (or anyone) done something similar to perk you up?  What makes you feel better?  I’d love to hear!  Please comment below or tweet me @AllSortsHere

The Art of Gratitude

When someone’s kind, it’s always nice to show gratitude.

When someone’s taken the time and effort to buy you something, it’s always nice to show gratitude.

When someone’s thought of you, it’s always nice to show gratitude.

When someone’s been kind to you, it’s nice to take the time and effort to say ‘thank you’.

Or it you can’t say it, it’s nice to write a short note to show your gratitude.

The art of gratitude thanks thank you notes letters presents gifts thoughtful Christmas thank you

It’s always nice to do this at any time of year but of course after Christmas, it’s nice to take the time and effort to show gratitude; just as someone has taken the time and effort to give it to you.

Our Little Girl set-to, writing a few ‘thank you’ notes for the lovely presents she received over Christmas.

Wouldn’t you agree that there’s a certain ‘art’ to showing your gratitude?

Well, Our Little Girl does.  In the picture above, she shows ‘The Art of Gratitude’.  Let’s hope it put a smile on a special someone’s face… 🙂

“It’s a nice thing to do!” ~ poem #WonderfulWorldofWriting

“It’s a nice thing to do!”

~~~~~
Excitement is building, Christmas is here,
Our little girl’s smiling, she’s got an idea…
With a box, some paper, felt tips and some glue
She’s making a present ’cause, “it’s a nice thing to do!”
~
So who is it for, this personal piece?
My parents, my sister or a lucky niece?
There’s no doubt about it, she’s having fun
Making a present for a special someone…
~
As she finishes up, she tells me, “it’s done!”
And ta-da! This present is second to none…
It’s for Santa Claus, Father Christmas or is it Saint Nick?
The man in the red suit.  What’s his name? Take your pick!
~
It doesn’t matter who’s name’s on the gift tag, you see
What matters is the idea to give lovingly.
She set to, making something straight from her heart
She gave her time and her effort… what great things to impart!
