I’ve got a trick up my sleeve… ~ #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’ve got a little poem for you!

#TheZenZing trick up my sleeve vicks tricks soothing calming ill get well soon parenting first defence children illness sick energising
Do you like fairytales?  I must admit I do!

And you’re in luck cos here’s a happy ending just for you!

This tale starts with sniffles, coughs and ‘atishooooo!’

And then, oh no, your child catches it from you…

There’s lots of cuddles to go round, a TV show or two,

Lots of rest and reading time to get them feeling just like new!

But wait, there’s another trick right up my sleeve,

It helps their airways unblock and helps them to breath…

A dab of ‘magic’ on their night clothes, their blanket or their teddy,

Means a better sleep all round; get set, we’re ready!

‘Cos rest is what they need when their immune system’s low,

Lots of cuddles on the sofa, it’s time to take it slow.

The ‘magic’ is Vicks VapoRub, a classic first aid trick,

That parents rely on when little ones are sick.

#VicksTricks are an essential for any child who is unwell,

They’ll pick up in no time, which is great for you as well!

 By Carol Cameleon 2017
~
Vicks believe that traditional love, fun & laughter are key to comfort your children when they aren’t feeling themselves. That’s why Vicks have developed a series of sharable #VicksTricks magic videos that are simple, easy and great fun to replicate!  Like this sliced banana one, which is mine and our daughter’s favourite!
Family Psychologist Corinne Sweet highlights that “one of the most powerful antidotes to sickness developing further, is parental care and concern.”  And I couldn’t agree more!

It’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂

Why I became interested in crystals ~ #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you why I became interested in crystals!

thezenzing-crystals-healing-aura-energise-cleanse-program-properties-healing
~
It all started when I was introduced to the world of reiki.  I received a treatment and learnt more about chakras – the openings (or at least they should be open…) that let in universal life energy.  It wasn’t long until I was attuned to reiki level 1 and was meditating with a crystal one night.
~
At the time, my crystal collection was very small.  I had a set of tumble stones in the colours of the chakra and a couple more but that was about it.
So, I was meditating with an amethyst crystal in my hand and I was really relaxing.  I could feel the pleasant pull of the energy, clearing all those blockages and gently realigning and rebalancing my chakras. (Here’s a little poem that tells you a little more about chakras.  It’s one of my personal favourites in fact!)
~
I had meditated before, being a bit of a hippy at heart.  But when I saw the colour purple vividly and unmistakably flash across my field of vision, with my eyes closed, I realised I was experiencing something new and incredible.
You see, in case you didn’t know, the amethyst crystal is purple and is aligned with the third eye chakra (on your forehead just above the in between bit of your eyebrows.)  And since I had been attuned, some channels had clearly been unblocked, opened and the energy was obviously flowing freely.  What an incredible world this crystal had opened up to me!
~
I read up some more about what crystals might be beneficial to my home and me personally.
And one day I came across an amazing stall on Camden Market (London) with a friend.  While I’d love to live just a little closer to London, my purse-strings would suffer because of this stall!
The person running the stall was extremely knowledgable and was more than happy for customers (browsers and knowledgable buyers alike) to look, touch, ask, ponder, get in the zone…
This day my friend saw a black tourmaline crystal, held it in their hand and it felt ‘right’, so they bought it.
~
Their workplace was full of negative people.  The negative vibes oozed off them, onto her and lingered.  Oh my goodness, did they linger?…
Until my friend carried their cleansed and programmed black tourmaline crystal in their pocket for the day.
No negativity appeared to seep into them.  It seemed to be repelled, bouncing off her and back at the negative ‘carriers’ surrounding her.
~
I also know of a lady who had a rose quartz pendant around her neck.  She liked to wear it because she was going through some emotional difficulty and wanted it to be close to her heart.  Over the years, she says, the rose quartz has faded to very nearly white.
There are plenty more experiences I could recount, both personal and not.  But I wanted to illustrate where my intrigue for crystals comes from.
~
I was inspired to learn more and signed up for a Crystal Healing Practitioner’s course, which was a distance learning course and I recently completed it with a distinction.  I learnt about crystal auras, their properties, how to cleanse them, program them and nurture them.
And in the new year I will be launching my Bespoke Crystals feature right here, on my blog.  Because I’d love to help you if you experience things such as anxiety or insomnia or anything else.
Crystals can help you.  They can benefit you.  And that also means that they can benefit those around you.
When it launches, I’ll be offering a discount off the normal price and details will follow very soon.  Subscribe to make you sure you don’t miss the updates…

Why you need a salt lamp in your life ~ #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you why you need a salt lamp in your life!

the-zen-zing-salt-lamp-energise-rejuvinate-energy-revitalise-wellbeing-positive-thinking

Have you ever wondered why you find the sea air so invigorating?  Why you feel so revitalised after a seaside trip?  (Aside from the sea breeze…)

Well think on this (with help from the below image from Sivanaeast.com) –

Negative ions are found naturally near water

Postitive ions are emitted by electronics

Negatives ions ‘pair up’ with positive ions and give us cleansed air all around us J

How do we get negative ions? Salt attracts water and heat causes water to evaporate and give us negative ions!

Pretty amazing isn’t it? (and yes, it’s pretty too!)

the-zen-zing-salt-lamp-pic-revitalise-rejuvinate-energise-wellbeing

Our salt lamp giving off negative ions (and a great ambience)

I had read and heard a lot about salt lamps.  Since we’ve had ours, the air feels calmer, cleaner and more ‘zen-like’.

And that’s a lovely feeling!

How to change your zen to achieve your zing… #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I ponder how to change your zen to achieve your zing!

#TheZenZing how to change your zen to achieve your zing energising rejuvinate benefits of exercise health wellbeing boost blog linky

In a previous ZenZing I shared how I intended to start running and swimming again.

After I passed my health check with flying colours, I decided not to assume I would remain physically healthy.

I decided that I needed some cardio to get my blood pumping.

My yoga, reiki and meditation help to keep me balanced mentally but I also needed to get moving.

I completed the Couch 2 5 k a couple of years ago (you can read my poem ‘Cancer, jog on!’ here.)

So, I thought it wouldn’t take a huge amount of effort to get my fitness back.

And did it?

Well, I don’t know!

I never started the running again.  Instead, our little girl has been swimming at her school and has been asking to go swimming at the weekends.  So we’ve been a couple of times and although I’m not doing hardcore swimming, I’m still getting some exercise.  It look like she’s getting very close to swimming unaided so it’ll be lovely to be able to do a width or 2 with her, moving on to lengths soon enough afterwards perhaps.

So, although my running’s been a non-starter (so far), swimming has taken its place!

And I’m okay with that because any exercise is better than none at all…

because it’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂
~

Enhance, enrich, empower with ZenWoman … #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to introduce Zen Woman!

#TheZenZing enhance enrich empower balance harmony handcrafted jewellery inner smile mediatation zen woman align health wellbeing

I like to focus on well-being on my blog which is precisely why I’m so happy and grateful that I stumbled upon Kirsty’s venture at Zen Woman.

So, what’s it all about?

Zen Woman was born out of a something of a crisis.

The crisis being that Kirsty found herself on the other side of the world with no job, no money and nowhere to stay.

She searched for her inner strength, turned it around to something positive and  found her inner zen.  You might call it her inner smile!

(Now you can see that we’re on the same wave-length!)

It was then that she began to help family and friends for free.  This soon led her to a desire to pass the benefit of her knowledge and well-being on to others in order for them to benefit too.

Kirsty wanted to pass the ‘zen’ on and did this through Zen Woman.

As she says on her website:

The aim of Zen Woman is to help others connect with practices and tools, ancient and new, which they can easily incorporate into the modern day lifestyles to enhance, empower and create harmony and balance to every day, enabling people to live a more fulfilling, successful and positive life.

What a great philosophy and end-goal to have!

~

So, this shift in circumstances saw Kirsty create some beautiful products that can be used to maintain that zen.

Your zen…

She has created some zen-like products… some of which can be seen below, and some will be featured in a giveaway very soon, so watch out for that on my blog!  (To make sure you don’t miss it, subscribe under ‘follow my blog’ in the right hand sidebar!)

You can see here 2 pendants, and a hairstick/wand.

#TheZenZing collage zen woman enhance enrich empower balance harmony handcrafted jewellery inner smile mediatation zen woman align health wellbeing

Each crystal has specific healing properties and comes with crystal information card, sage for cleansing and a lovely chiffon bag.

You will also see on her website beautifully hand-crafted earrings. Just stunning!

~

Kirsty is currently working very hard on creating an online course which, she says,  “will be a meditation roadmap for everyone who would like to practice mediation, from beginners to experienced.  There will be different meditations ~ some yogic, taoist, art, movement, shamanic … The idea behind this course is really to help people experience meditation and find one that works for them.”

So this course is ‘bespoke’ because it will look deeper than the average meditation, helping you to find your zen.

~

Thanks for joining me for my little introduction to ZenWoman.

Why not pop over and say hello to Kirsty? 🙂

Energising with exercise … #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you about how I’m energising with exercise!

#TheZenZing energising rejuvinate exercise running run benefits health wellbeing boost blog linky

I like to focus on well-being on my blog which includes reiki, yoga, meditation and crystal healing.  All of these things help to re-align, rebalance and reset my chakras.

Whether it’s a coincidence that my recent free NHS health check concluded that I’m less than 1% likely to develop heart disease, perhaps we’ll never know!

What I do know is that having just turned 40 (hence the free health check), I’m definitely getting a little wobblier and less toned in places that I’d quite like to remain toned in!  Enter running again 🙂

I completed the Couch to 5k a couple of years ago and ran Race For Life.  I enjoyed the training and the event but I then got a chest infection that turned into bronchitis and I just got out of the habit of running…

Once I get my sports bra, new trainers and app, it will be resurrected and I will report back on how I will energising with exercise again!

How to reset yourself … relax with #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you how you can reset yourself by way of a chakra cleanse.

And look out for a chakra bracelet giveaway this month on my blog!

#TheZenZing energy energising health wellbeing chakra cleanse balance realign meditate visualisation
We are all full of energy – whether good or bad…
~
We each have 7 main ‘openings’ known as chakras.
~
Our chakras should be fully open to allow for the universal life force (the energy) which surrounds us to enter our ‘being’ (our aura) and to allow the energy to flow freely, as it should.
~
When the energy flows freely though our auric layers and into our meridian lines, it keeps our chakras balanced and aligned.
~
Why is it so important to keep our chakras balanced and aligned?
~
Well, you will recall that our chakras should be open to allow the energy to flow through them?
~
If one or more of these chakras is not opened, the energy cannot enter our being and therefore we become out of balance.
~
When we get blockages, the energy cannot flow at ‘ease’ and we can get ‘dis-ease’.
~
You can see now why it is important to look after yourself, to keep your chakras balanced and aligned…
~
Our chakras are coloured as follows:
  • Root – red (base of your spine)
  • Sacral – orange
  • Solar Plexus – yellow (your abdomen area)
  • Heart – green
  • Throat – blue
  • Third Eye – violet (forehead just above and between your brows)
  • Crown – white

~

To cleanse your chakras and ‘reset’ yourself you can do a visualisation exercise ~ sit or lay with your eyes closed, starting at the root, imagine a ball of the relevant chakra colour moving up your body.  All the while be mindful of your breathing.  When you get to your crown chakra, imagine the ball of white light enveloping you in a warm cocoon…
Try it and notice how you feel…

Bring on the can … relax with #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you how ‘you can’ motivate yourself (and those around you).

#TheZenZing focus motivation goals positive thinking positivity achieve mental health wellbeing you can i can
I recently blogged about being mighty and how you should let the word ‘can’t’ wash over you.
~
Self-doubt can be an uphill struggle and can be ingrained into your subconscious from an early age, preventing you from at least trying to achieve your goals.
~
I once heard Richard McCann speak about how ‘you can’ (or rather ‘iCan’) and he was beyond inspiring.
~
Now think on this:
How much more difficult is it to get out of bed and approach a task with a ‘can’t do’ attitude?
~
It’s so much easier to be focussed and approach a task with a ‘can-do’ attitude…
Try it for yourself.
~
The next time you have something to do which you perhaps don’t want to do, are dreading, or that someone else has sewn the seed of doubt by saying you ‘can’t’ do.. defy the ‘can’t’ and bring on the ‘can’!
~
Boost your zing and encourage your zen.
Because ‘you can’!
It’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂
~
How have you overcome a ‘can’t do’ attitude?  And how do you maintain a ‘can do’ attitude?  What have you achieved with this attitude?  I’d love to hear from you.  Please comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere and use the #TheZenZing hashtag.

Give yourself a boost … relax with #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you how I’m getting a boost with a touch of colour.

#TheZenZing energising rejuvinate products benefits health wellbeing makeover colour confidence pamper boost
I’m a firm believer in external influences making you feeling ‘meh’ or ‘yay’!  And usually I’m pretty good at being positive but of late, I must admit that I’ve been needing a bit of a boost.  I put that down to our recent rollercoaster ride.
~
I feel the need to point out here that this isn’t a sponsored post tucked between 2 others and this isn’t a post focussing on cosmetics that the majority of men (and some women) would probably overlook.  I’m not a beauty blogger and don’t intend to be.
~
You see, I don’t often wear make-up (I find it quite pricey in all honesty – particularly for how much I wear it), I rarely wear nail varnish and as such usually flick through the Avon book absent-mindedly until I find one of the favourite non-cosmetic items that are on offer.
~
However, this time around I stumbled upon some trial size lipsticks and something grabbed me.  I decided there and then that I needed a splash of colour, a bit of a boost.  I’ve found in the past that colour can really affect your mood. The truth is that I’ve got out of the habit of putting mascara or eyeliner on… until the last few weeks.  Now I needed a bright splash of colour and I was going to buy some trial lippys!
~
I chose colours that I wouldn’t usually go near (although they don’t look very bright in the pic!)  When my friend handed me my bag with my order inside, I was all giddy!  I’ve even bought myself a proper lip brush so that I can apply it properly in the hope that it won’t have completely faded after my first de-caf!
#TheZenZing energising rejuvinate products benefits health wellbeing makeover colour confidence pamper boost lippys
~
I’m very excited and will be choosing my 3 retail size  colours out of the 6 trials that I’ve got!  So far, I’m very impressed because as promised, it doesn’t ‘cake’ and glides on smoothly… I’ll tell you which ones I’ve chosen in a coming blog post 🙂
~
In the meantime what do you use to give yourself a boost?  Do you consciously use colour therapy?
I’d love to hear from you by way of comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere and use the #TheZenZing hashtag.
Thank you 🙂
