… Pinterest of course!…
When we moved house, we began to add some splashes of colour in each room. We love dashes of colour dotted around and my absolute favourite colour is turquoise.
Thanks to pinterest, I have been virtually ‘zenning’ it out with my A Touch of Turquoise Zen board.
I love the lotus flower tea light holder (oh how I love candles and holders!)
And the amazing moon bath light (just wow!)
Onto the window sills to dot a few more turquoise accessories around, like the vase and the buddha…
I also love the bird, the heart and the tips on using turquoise on sore throats…
Wouldn’t you just love to wear the cute little meditating yogi pendant?! I know I would!
…Bliss… a touch of turquoise in every room, making every room somewhere to unwind, whatever the season.
In the next #TheZenZing I will be exploring the colour turquoise (in whatever form), how it affects your moods and how it can lift you when the days get shorter… join me on 1st November for that gem in #TheZenZing 🙂
How about you? Do you like turquoise? If not, what are your favourite colours to pick you up? I’d love to hear! Comment below or tweet me @AllSortsHere.

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the
zing back into your life.
This time I ponder how to change your zen to achieve your zing!
In a previous ZenZing I shared how I intended to start running and swimming again.
After I passed my health check with flying colours, I decided not to assume I would remain physically healthy.
I decided that I needed some cardio to get my blood pumping.
I completed the Couch 2 5 k a couple of years ago (you can read my poem ‘Cancer, jog on!’ here.)
So, I thought it wouldn’t take a huge amount of effort to get my fitness back.
And did it?
Well, I don’t know!
I never started the running again. Instead, our little girl has been swimming at her school and has been asking to go swimming at the weekends. So we’ve been a couple of times and although I’m not doing hardcore swimming, I’m still getting some exercise. It look like she’s getting very close to swimming unaided so it’ll be lovely to be able to do a width or 2 with her, moving on to lengths soon enough afterwards perhaps.
So, although my running’s been a non-starter (so far), swimming has taken its place!
And I’m okay with that because any exercise is better than none at all…
Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the
zing back into your life.
This time I’m going to introduce Zen Woman!
I like to focus on well-being on my blog which is precisely why I’m so happy and grateful that I stumbled upon Kirsty’s venture at Zen Woman.
So, what’s it all about?
Zen Woman was born out of a something of a crisis.
The crisis being that Kirsty found herself on the other side of the world with no job, no money and nowhere to stay.
She searched for her inner strength, turned it around to something positive and found her inner zen. You might call it her inner smile!
(Now you can see that we’re on the same wave-length!)
It was then that she began to help family and friends for free. This soon led her to a desire to pass the benefit of her knowledge and well-being on to others in order for them to benefit too.
Kirsty wanted to pass the ‘zen’ on and did this through Zen Woman.
As she says on her website:
The aim of Zen Woman is to help others connect with practices and tools, ancient and new, which they can easily incorporate into the modern day lifestyles to enhance, empower and create harmony and balance to every day, enabling people to live a more fulfilling, successful and positive life.
What a great philosophy and end-goal to have!
So, this shift in circumstances saw Kirsty create some beautiful products that can be used to maintain that zen.
She has created some zen-like products… some of which can be seen below, and some will be featured in a giveaway very soon, so watch out for that on my blog! (To make sure you don’t miss it, subscribe under ‘follow my blog’ in the right hand sidebar!)
You can see here 2 pendants, and a hairstick/wand.
Each crystal has specific healing properties and comes with crystal information card, sage for cleansing and a lovely chiffon bag.
You will also see on her website beautifully hand-crafted earrings. Just stunning!
Kirsty is currently working very hard on creating an online course which, she says, “will be a meditation roadmap for everyone who would like to practice mediation, from beginners to experienced. There will be different meditations ~ some yogic, taoist, art, movement, shamanic … The idea behind this course is really to help people experience meditation and find one that works for them.”
So this course is ‘bespoke’ because it will look deeper than the average meditation, helping you to find your zen.
Thanks for joining me for my little introduction to ZenWoman.
Why not pop over and say hello to Kirsty? 🙂
My recent health check came back all good. A generally balanced diet (I’m quite partial to chocolate!) along with steering clear of booze is my lifestyle and my body is thanking me for it.
I’ve had a good life so far (with many more good years to come, I hope!). During my student years, my body began to tolerate more and more alcohol, probably because it got used to the toxins I was putting in my body. Even then, I don’t think I was ‘abusing’ alcohol a such. I just enjoyed a social drink and when it was burger and beer night or pound a pint at the Student’s Union, my bank balance was screaming out to me to take advantage. I’d have been a fool not to…
I never used to get hangovers either. Not really. If I’d really gone to town with my friends (usually if the pound at pint at the Union led to a club afterwards…), I might get the ‘5 0’clock blues’ the next day but I was always up for 9 am lectures (more often than not anyway!). Or there was the occasional hair of the dog!
So why no booze now? Well I’m not a recovering alcoholic… When we found out we were pregnant, I knocked my few glasses of red on the head at the weekend. During labour my liver took a battering due to HELLP syndrome and I decided not to put it through anymore. Then I just got out of the ‘habit’ of drinking alcohol. I began to prefer a nice mug of hot chocolate in the winter months and herbal teas in the summer months.
At a wedding, I drank to the toast and had a couple of mixers but didn’t really enjoy them. Not like I used to. I enjoyed myself but felt I had gone beyond the social drinking.
So I stopped.
I just got out of the habit. My purse is slightly heavier, although I can always find something else to spend the money on! And the hangovers are obsolete. Joy of joys! Why do we do that to ourselves?! It seems like such a good idea at the time!
I’ve found my personal balance 🙂 Have you found your balance? Have you had a health check? I’d love to hear in the comments below. Or tweet me @AllSortsHere
Hello and welcome to another exciting giveaway!
Yes, you can win this pretty chakra bracelet.
What’s at the beginning?
It all starts at the root,
When we’re not grounded,
A branch can’t develop its shoots.
Our branches need feeding
With healthy, wholesome foods,
If not, they’re ‘unbalanced’
And affect our moods.
When we work from the bottom
And end up at the top,
We have spinning wheels, or
‘chakras’ which never stop…
Want to feel peaceful and calm?
Meditate daily, don’t be shy,
And your friends they may comment,
Share the love, tell them why…
…Why you’re feeling grounded
And rooted, like a tree to the earth.
Why those positive thoughts and good food
Give a sense of self-worth.
…Why you’re feeling creative
Bursting with thoughts and ideas,
As they ebb and flow like the water,
Eroding your fears.
…Why your ego’s not ‘pumped up’,
You’re calm and ‘together’,
You don’t listen to the bad things,
You don’t need ‘lucky heather’.
…Why your breathing’s steady and easy
While your heart pumps fresh air,
Pure and cleansed through your body,
To keep you alert and ‘all there’.
…Why you’re feeling expressive
And you’re speaking your mind,
Being open and clear,
It’s the best way, you will find.
…Why your sixth sense is open,
It’s your third eye, you see.
Is your perception of reality
With them or with ‘me’?
…Why your crown’s like a flower,
Its stem’s like your spine,
A petal for each chakra
Now you’re upright and ‘aligned’.
Now you’re beginning to see
What your thoughts can do,
Breathe slowly, be mindful
That it all starts with you.
