Give yourself a boost … relax with #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you how I’m getting a boost with a touch of colour.

I’m a firm believer in external influences making you feeling ‘meh’ or ‘yay’!  And usually I’m pretty good at being positive but of late, I must admit that I’ve been needing a bit of a boost.  I put that down to our recent rollercoaster ride.
I feel the need to point out here that this isn’t a sponsored post tucked between 2 others and this isn’t a post focussing on cosmetics that the majority of men (and some women) would probably overlook.  I’m not a beauty blogger and don’t intend to be.
You see, I don’t often wear make-up (I find it quite pricey in all honesty – particularly for how much I wear it), I rarely wear nail varnish and as such usually flick through the Avon book absent-mindedly until I find one of the favourite non-cosmetic items that are on offer.
However, this time around I stumbled upon some trial size lipsticks and something grabbed me.  I decided there and then that I needed a splash of colour, a bit of a boost.  I’ve found in the past that colour can really affect your mood. The truth is that I’ve got out of the habit of putting mascara or eyeliner on… until the last few weeks.  Now I needed a bright splash of colour and I was going to buy some trial lippys!
I chose colours that I wouldn’t usually go near (although they don’t look very bright in the pic!)  When my friend handed me my bag with my order inside, I was all giddy!  I’ve even bought myself a proper lip brush so that I can apply it properly in the hope that it won’t have completely faded after my first de-caf!

I’m very excited and will be choosing my 3 retail size  colours out of the 6 trials that I’ve got!  So far, I’m very impressed because as promised, it doesn’t ‘cake’ and glides on smoothly… I’ll tell you which ones I’ve chosen in a coming blog post 🙂
In the meantime what do you use to give yourself a boost?  Do you consciously use colour therapy?
I’d love to hear from you by way of comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere and use the #TheZenZing hashtag.
Thank you 🙂

  1. As a mom of 4, I don’t often wear makeup either. But I’ve recently discovered lipstick and I love the way it perks me up! We’ve been snowed into our home for 2 days and counting…I might put some on before I shovel today! #TwinklyTuesday

  2. I don’t wear makeup that often either, but when I do, it makes me feel special. I am blind so am not affected by color really, although I still have a good concept of it from when I still had a little vision. #TwinklyTuesday

  3. I always feel better with a slick of bright red lipstick! And after an amazing colour session at John Lewis a couple of years ago I’m a big believer in colour therapy and how wearing the right colours for you can change your whole appearance. Thanks for sharing this at #sharethejoy this week! x

  4. I’m not a big make-up person either – I just find my day is too full as it is, without thinking about applying (and removing) make up!! But recently my husband bought me some fancy nail polish and having red nails that lasted a couple of days before chipping really gave me a boost! I do think we respond to colours, often without realising it, and I do wonder if this is why I find winter so draining (lack of variety of colours in nature). It’s funny, isn’t it, how things can affect us without us consciously realising it.

  5. Oh I like the sound of this. I am always too scared to wear lipstick. I have recently tried hot pink I know go bold or go home but only three times I mostly chicken out. lol Bet these are lovely. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme
