How safe is your street?
There’s a question for you
To ponder and wonder
In the local shop queue…
~
How safe is your street?
As you stand in the line,
Do you talk to your neighbour,
Do you find the time?…
~
How safe is your street?
A stone’s throw or afar,
Your neighbour’s your neighbour,
By foot, bus or car…
~
How safe is your street?
Need an ice-breaker or two?
A bit of small-talk
Will be perfect for you…
~
How safe is your street?
Is your own home protected?
While you sleep at night,
Be ‘alarmed’, be detected…
~
How safe is your street?
And your appliances too,
It’s vital to test them,
Corgi can help you…
~
How safe is your street?
From the young to the old,
Are you ‘safe as houses’?
Do you stand tall and bold?

Gosh that is super clever! Wow!
Excellent! Clever stuff! Thanks for sharing #KCACOLS
Thanks Jane 🙂
It’s sad but true that many of us no longer ml know our neighbours. We’re fortunate that we speak to a few people on our road, mainly from them taking in parcels for us. I’m not the sort of person who wants to be best mates with the neighbours but equally it’s good to look out for one another. #kcacols
Thanks for your comment Fran. Definitely good to look out for each other…
I really enjoyed this little poem, absolutely brilliant! It really makes you wonder who you’re surrounded by, doesn’t it? My street has a block party every summer, and it gives everyone an opportunity to just catch up, meet new neighbors, etc. It’s really nice, and it leaves me feeling comforted, and united with my neighborhood. Thanks for sharing! #KCACOLS
What a great idea a block party is… great chance to catch up!
What a great poem, and a lovely way of getting an important message across. I also like the way it helps to promote neighbourliness and a sense of community #KCACOLS
Thanks Michelle, always a bonus to get such lovely comments while imparting an important message 🙂
Cleverly done. We are friendly-ish with our neighbours I hope they would notice if we were being burgled! #KCACOLS
Thanks Sara – let’s hope so…!
fab! my neighbour is so lovely -she brings in my recycling boxes when im at work. will miss her when we move #KCACOLS
Aw you’ll have to find another box bringer-in…
Brilliant! I love your poem, and that it really makes you think. And you’ve just reminded me to test our carbon monoxide detector, Thankyou!
#KCACOLS
You’re welcome.. and thank you! 🙂
I really enjoyed reading this! I feel like all the people in my little street look out for each other which is lovely, and when we used to live in a block of flats we were always stopping off to our elderly neighbours to help them out with things, which I know they really appreciated. x #KCACOLS
How lovely, sounds like 2 great little communities!
Lovely poem- certainly makes you think. We’ve just recently moved into our home and are finding it difficult to get more than a few grumbles from the neighbours but I’d like to think they’d look out for us if something happened! #KCACOLS
Thank you – here’s hoping you break that ice very soon 🙂
That’s a brilliant poem, very cleaver. I am always impressed by writing such as this. I like to think our street is quiet safe and we know our neighbours well..enough. But I guess we all like to think that. Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday xx
Thanks very much Tammy 🙂
This is lovely! We have a great street and a very good community considering we live in London. I guess that is a lot to do with kids and schools but everyone really does seem to know everyone. Shopping takes ages! #KCACOLS
haha, sounds much like where we live Nicky. There’s no such thing as a ‘just popping to the shop’ round here! 🙂
Brlliant, very clever! We live on a pretty friendly street and I hope our neighbours would notice if something was awry… #KCACOLS
Thank you 🙂
Nice, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I love that it is written in a poem format and yet has an important message. #KCACOLS
Thanks Jen, glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Great way to handle this and get people thinking! Sadly I have learned that knowing your neighbors cuts two ways, our old neighborhood we knew our neighbors and our neighbors knew us, including their teen son, who robbed us. Know your neighbors but don’t share too much info with them!
#KCACOLS cause I always forget!
Oh no, that’s not such a good outcome… I would hope that’s a rare occurrence.
I really enjoyed this poem. The perfect way to make people stop and think – the message within it is fabulous. Thank you so much for linking to Prose for Thought x
Thanks Vicky 🙂
This is a great little poem, love how you have done it #KCACOLS
Thanks Natasha 🙂
A fun way of getting people to consider a sensible subject. We went round and met all out neighbours with cake..now we talk to much over the fence my OH rolls his eyes and wanders off..fab post #KCACOLS
All in the name of community Jade… Cake you say? You live a few doors down? Oh go on then, I’ll put the kettle on!! 🙂
What a great poem 🙂
Both we and the neighbours next door and across the street keep an eye out for each other. My next door neighbour even notices when my Wheelie bin is taken in a few hours later than normal. Maybe they keep an eye out too much!

Thanks Laura. Efficient neighbourhood watch there 😉
What a cleverly written poem Carol! The way your words ping pong down the page make it seem so effortless, you are a star girl!
