Share The Joy with a smile
Kindness is something that I really try to embed into my every day life. And also into our 7 year old’s daily life (not forgetting hubby too!). We’re only human and so some days take more effort, more thinking about.
I’ve been following The Kindness Calendar from MakeTodayHappy and I find it works really well to focus on one thing which I then write about in my Share the Joy post, and I link up to the #ShareTheJoyLinky. I co-host every Monday and this week is Lizzie’s turn to host, so do make sure you pop over to link up your post about what made you happy and brought you joy!
This week, my act of kindness that stood out was…
‘Hip Hip Hooray! It’s ‘World Smile Day”
…were the words on the kindness calendar, so how could I resist? And then I got to thinking…
That smile is the same in every language and that it’s such a simple thing isn’t it?
When we’re in a good mood, it comes easily; when we’re not, less so…
It’s often the case that a smile can lift your mood and those around. Yet it’s also true that sometimes nothing can bring you out of your mood, not even a smile.
Whatever the reason, sometimes it’s good and necessary to have a wallow. And when I’m having a wallow, people telling me to cheer up or smiling at me for no reason other than they can, that just annoys me more!
I think it’s important to be mindful of this and sensitive if someone looks ‘down in the dumps.’ You never know what’s happened, after all.
When our life turned into a rollercoaster, I needed to be practical and just get on with it but when it settled down, I needed a wallow. And I had a wallow. I wanted a wallow, I needed a wallow. No smiles were going to take my wallow away. Because I didn’t want them to.
But there’s nothing like a smile to spread the happiness and one day I needed to get out of my wallow and that one smile helped me.
So, a gentle smile might just be what ‘that’ person is looking for to get them on their way…
Let’s keep smiling; it’s the same in every language.
Are you following any sort of ‘kindness’ calendar? Has there been a time when someone made you smile and you really needed it? I’d love to hear. Please do leave a comment below or tweet me @AllSortsHere.
