Your weekly dose of happiness…

Welcome back to my regular readers and for those who are joining for the first time or just browsing, let’s have a little reminder of what #HighlightsofHappy is all about…

It’s a common phrase isn’t it?…

“Bad things come in 3’s”

or words similar to that!

So, let’s flip it because everyone deserves a little happiness … (you know how I love to spread happiness and turn a negative into a positive with positive thinking !)

Let’s spread that happiness and find 3 things to be grateful for (or even more… well, why not?!)

It's time for a dose of Happiness in #HighlightsofHappy 79 Blog Linky because Life's for the Good Stuff Belly Laughs Reading Books Play Dance

In my weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal because that’s the great thing about gratitude and using my gratitude journal – it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂  And that’s what I do here, in my weekly feature, I look back on my #HighlightsofHappy.

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…  why not do the same?

If you’re a blogger, why not share your happy post from the last week or so in the linky below?

If you’re on instagram, why not tag your happy snap #HighlightsofHappy and link up your pic in the linky below?

If you’re on twitter, why not tweet your happy with #HighlightsofHappy ?

If you’re all 3, why not do all 3??  The linky is below. (To link your insta happy snap, simply click on your insta pic, copy the url and paste into the linky tool!)

(If you join in with my #HighlightsofHappy community on instagram, I post up my favourite snaps every Friday on instagram.)

Share The Joy with a little time for ‘chatting’

Kindness is something that I really try to embed into my every day life.  And also into our 8 year old’s daily life (not forgetting hubby too!).  We’re only human and so some days take more effort, more thinking about.

I’ve been following The Kindness Calendar from MakeTodayHappy and I find it works really well to focus on one thing which I then write about in my Share the Joy post, and I link up to the #ShareTheJoyLinky.  Don’t forget to link up your posts below!  This week, my act of kindness that stood out was…

‘Making room for her nearly 8 year old things’ ~ poem

Making room full for her nearly 8 year old things poem poetry parenting growing up virtually all sorts

‘Making Room for her nearly 8 year old Things’

We often tell our daughter that she needs to de-clutter,

“To make room for more tat!”, I say with a mutter;

Her room needs a sort out with a fine tooth-comb,

For the old toys that now need a new home…

Instead of tidying, she’s often found playing,

Unearthing old toys that it seems are now staying,

“It’s a pre-school book, you no longer need,

It’s been in a box, chapter books you now read!”

Okay, she tells me, she’ll sort that box out,

So I leave her to playing, not sorting, no doubt;

But a little while later she presents a small pile,

Of nick-nacks that I’ve not seen for a while…

“I don’t need these now, they’re too young for me!

I’ve had them since I was around about three.”

‘Tis true and my heart, well it does a small flip,

Cos I know she’s growing up in a hop and skip!

Peppa Pig, Disney Princesses are all relegated

To the ‘not wanted’ stack, I feel somewhat deflated…

But you know what?  It’s all good and exciting,

The next step of our journey that it seems we’re alighting…

With makeup, with fashions, with disco lights,

With pop music, with dancing and slightly later nights,

All signs our little girl is little no more,

As she practices dance moves on the living floor.

We see her character growing and growing,

Moulding to where the wind takes her, it’s blowing!

Leaving her old toys, all stacked up in the wings

Making room for her nearly 8 year old things…

How do you cope when your child decides they’re suddenly too old for the toys that, actually remind you of their earlier days? Does your heart skip a beat of excitement or is it bittersweet?  I’d love to know!  Please comment below or tweet me @AllSortsHere
