How I find balance in life with my daily routine

Daily Routine Balance Habit Wellbeing Self Care Zen

How I find balance in life with my daily routine

With the general business and busyness of everyday life, it’s so easy to get swept up in the day isn’t it?  But I find that by starting my day off on the right ‘foot’, it gives me a head start in overcoming any stress and negativity that comes my way throughout the day.  By having a daily routine, I have time for me albeit in the early hours before any else is awake.  Yes, I often struggle to get out of bed in the morning due to tiredness but I usually stick to my daily routine which happens to be in the morning (and bits of it are often repeated at night) and I really feel the difference.

Daily Routine Balance Habit Wellbeing Self Care Zen

So what do I do in my daily routine to keep my ‘zen’ in balance?

It's time for a dose of happiness in #HighlightsofHappy 61 blog linky because life's for the good stuff new moon meditation

Your weekly dose of happiness… now on a Friday!

I’m very excited to be co-hosting #ShareTheJoy linky, which is every Monday.  Which means that #HighlightsofHappy had to make way by moving to a Friday.  You can never share too much joy and happiness… you get a double weekly dose now!

Let’s spread the happiness!

It’s a common phrase isn’t it?…

“Bad things come in 3’s”

or words similar to that!

So, let’s flip it because everyone deserves a little happiness … (you know how I love to spread happiness and turn a negative into a positive with positive thinking !)

Let’s spread that happiness and find 3 things to be grateful for (or even more… well, why not?!)

It's time for a dose of happiness in #HighlightsofHappy 61 blog linky because life's for the good stuff new moon meditation

In my weekly feature, I look back over my gratitude journal because that’s the great thing about gratitude and using my gratitude journal – it gives me the opportunity to look back and be grateful all over again 🙂  And that’s what I do here, in my weekly feature, I look back and on my #HighlightsofHappy.

I round it off with one word that sums up my happy…  why not do the same?

If you’re a blogger, why not share your happy post from the last week or so in the linky below?

If you’re on instagram, why not tag your happy snap #HighlightsofHappy and link up your pic in the linky below?

If you’re on twitter, why not tweet your happy with #HighlightsofHappy ?

If you’re all 3, why not do all 3??  The linky is below. (To link your insta happy snap, simply click on your insta pic, copy the url and paste into the linky tool!)

(If you join in with my #HighlightsofHappy community on instagram, I post up my favourite snaps every Monday on instagram.)

Here’s a past-time for all seasons

Have you ever thought that you need to have a perfect blue sky dotted with clouds in order to cloud watch?

Well think again…

It’s a past-time for all seasons!

Take this picture that I shared on instagram.  Though there’s not much blue sky, isn’t it beautifully atmospheric and zen-like? (if I say so myself!!)

past time for all seasons cloud watching meditation clouds relaxing wellbeing relaxation

Granted, I’m not suggesting that you lay on your back on some sodden, cold grass and cloud watch, but just stop a moment.

Be in the moment.

Take in the clouds as they swirl by… Follow that swirl as it changes form…

Although you haven’t got your eyes closed, it’s a great way to slow down and it actually might just be a form of meditation.

So, my message to you is ‘do yourself a favour’ and gaze up at the sky; lose yourself in those swirly wirly clouds; relax and be grateful 🙂

Why not make it a habit?

past time for all seasons pin 2 c cloud watching meditation clouds relaxing wellbeing relaxation

And when you do it, let me know how you got on!

Do you like cloud watching?  What else do you like to do that relaxes you and is a great past-time to adopt?   I’d love to hear from you!  Please comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere.  And come and say hi on social media ~

Thank you 🙂

5 ways to be more healthy and stay that way

So, have you got a plan to improve your fitness?

Maybe you’ve joined a gym?

Perhaps you’ve got kitted out for running or swimming?

If you have, great!  Good for you!

Or maybe you’ve got yourself a yoga mat or a meditation app.

A step in the right direction…

All of the above exercises and activities improve our mental health as well as our physical health, of course.  Those wonderful endorphins that are released in exercise… ooh yeah, give me some of those!

And it sounds pretty obvious that a consistent approach is best and that it gives you the best chance of success.  Taking up and continuing with exercise or a beneficial activity is a bit of a mind-game.  Particularly in the early days, getting into your exercise kit is half the battle. We know we’re going to feel great during and after exercise but resisting the sofa, TV and treats can be a huge battle.

As I’ve already touched on, once those addictive endorphins start pumping, it’s like a good habit and you just want to keep going back for more.

5 ways stones pin 1 be more healthy and stay that way wellbeing exercise goals plans fitness mental health physical virtually all sorts swimming gym running yoga meditation

To help you on your way, here are 5 ways you increase your chances of success to be more healthy… and stay that way (be it physical or mental, or both!):

  1. Why wait until new year?  If you’ve decided to take action, do it!  Right now!  Seize the day…
  2. Do the exercise or activity at the same time or times each day/week.  Pretty quickly, you’ll see a habit forming.  A good habit! I’m no psychologist but why would you go back to bad habits when good habits make you feel so gooood?…
  3. Accept that you’re going to come across obstacles.  If the exercise is to lose weight, but you fancy a chocolate bar or piece of cake… have it!  And then get back on the plan straight away.  Likewise, if you fancy skipping a session of yoga or meditation, chill our with friends instead (non-toxic ones!), read a book, light some candles, got for a walk to your favourite cafe or have a de-clutter instead.  And then get back on to the plan straight away.
  4. Tell your friends about your plan.  Providing they’re of a positive, non-toxic nature, they’ll support you and encourage you along the way.
  5. Consider that going cold turkey is often the best way.  Years ago (around 6 year to be precise), I experienced issues which led to a suggestion from the doctor to cut out fizzy drinks and caffeine.  I didn’t ‘do’ fizzy and so cut the caffeine.  My several cups a day went to zero cups, just like that.  I’m not saying it was easy to do.  I had a stonking headaches for days but I pushed through.  And I haven’t done do caffeine in drinks since (please don’t take my chocolate away from me!…)  Going cold turkey was the best action to take.  You might say that I was desperate to stop the issues.  I’m not saying they cleared up completely just because of cutting the caffeine but often, going cold turkey is less painful than weaning yourself off.

There you have it then, 5 ways to be more healthy and stay that way!

Have you got a plan?  What will you be doing?  Have you stuck to a plan?  How did you do it?  Did you follow any of the suggestions above?  I’d love to hear from you!  Please comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere.  And come and say hi on social media ~

Thank you 🙂

How to change your zen to achieve your zing… #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I ponder how to change your zen to achieve your zing!

#TheZenZing how to change your zen to achieve your zing energising rejuvinate benefits of exercise health wellbeing boost blog linky

In a previous ZenZing I shared how I intended to start running and swimming again.

After I passed my health check with flying colours, I decided not to assume I would remain physically healthy.

I decided that I needed some cardio to get my blood pumping.

My yoga, reiki and meditation help to keep me balanced mentally but I also needed to get moving.

I completed the Couch 2 5 k a couple of years ago (you can read my poem ‘Cancer, jog on!’ here.)

So, I thought it wouldn’t take a huge amount of effort to get my fitness back.

And did it?

Well, I don’t know!

I never started the running again.  Instead, our little girl has been swimming at her school and has been asking to go swimming at the weekends.  So we’ve been a couple of times and although I’m not doing hardcore swimming, I’m still getting some exercise.  It look like she’s getting very close to swimming unaided so it’ll be lovely to be able to do a width or 2 with her, moving on to lengths soon enough afterwards perhaps.

So, although my running’s been a non-starter (so far), swimming has taken its place!

And I’m okay with that because any exercise is better than none at all…

because it’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂

How to reset yourself … relax with #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I’m going to tell you how you can reset yourself by way of a chakra cleanse.

And look out for a chakra bracelet giveaway this month on my blog!

#TheZenZing energy energising health wellbeing chakra cleanse balance realign meditate visualisation
We are all full of energy – whether good or bad…
~
We each have 7 main ‘openings’ known as chakras.
~
Our chakras should be fully open to allow for the universal life force (the energy) which surrounds us to enter our ‘being’ (our aura) and to allow the energy to flow freely, as it should.
~
When the energy flows freely though our auric layers and into our meridian lines, it keeps our chakras balanced and aligned.
~
Why is it so important to keep our chakras balanced and aligned?
~
Well, you will recall that our chakras should be open to allow the energy to flow through them?
~
If one or more of these chakras is not opened, the energy cannot enter our being and therefore we become out of balance.
~
When we get blockages, the energy cannot flow at ‘ease’ and we can get ‘dis-ease’.
~
You can see now why it is important to look after yourself, to keep your chakras balanced and aligned…
~
Our chakras are coloured as follows:
  • Root – red (base of your spine)
  • Sacral – orange
  • Solar Plexus – yellow (your abdomen area)
  • Heart – green
  • Throat – blue
  • Third Eye – violet (forehead just above and between your brows)
  • Crown – white

~

To cleanse your chakras and ‘reset’ yourself you can do a visualisation exercise ~ sit or lay with your eyes closed, starting at the root, imagine a ball of the relevant chakra colour moving up your body.  All the while be mindful of your breathing.  When you get to your crown chakra, imagine the ball of white light enveloping you in a warm cocoon…
Try it and notice how you feel…
~
Boost your zing and encourage your zen.
It’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂
~
How did you feel after your chakra cleanse?  Do you meditate regularly?  I’d love to hear from you.  Please comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere and use the #TheZenZing hashtag.
Thank you 🙂

And relax … with reiki ~ #TheZenZing

#TheZenZing relax realign reiki energy healing flow calm chi balance harmony light zen zing

Hello and welcome to another #TheZenZing!  Here I share how you can put the energy back into your life! Last month we looked at meditating with crystals. How did you get on with it?  Did you feel the benefits?  Let me know by tweeting @AllSortsHere.

This month it’s time for some reiki and tomorrow on this very blog I will be hosting a distance reiki session giveaway…  🙂

If you’re new to reiki and are curious as to what ‘it’ is, let me enlighten you.  There is energy all around us.  I’m attuned to reiki 1 , have recently been attuned to reiki 2 and feel the benefits every day from treating myself.

Each person’s experience is different and personal (at least from the feedback I’ve received from family and friends).

Reiki is ‘universal life force’.  It’s the universal energy being transported through the ‘giver’ to the ‘receiver’.

It’s the transformation of this energy into ‘chi’ and as the chi flows through the meridian lines, clearing any blockages in its path, it’s the alignment and the balancing of the chakras.

Reiki will go to where it’s needed.  Reiki is awesome and can be healing too.  It can be practiced in person or (at level 2) by distance with the person’s permission.

Reiki love to you…

It’s #TheZenZing…

I am attuned to Reiki level 2 and I practice meditation and mindfulness, along with yoga and find this holistic approach works for me.  I would always advise anyone to seek advice from a doctor or similar medically qualified professional if you have symptoms that are a concern to you.

I invite you to share your blog posts on anything ‘positive, happy and full of zing’  by linking up each month to #TheZenZing linky.  It will be open from 0600 GMT on the 1st of each month for 2 weeks.   I’ll share each post across my social media and in my monthly newsletter. In the following month’s #TheZenZing post, I will share my favourite post from the previous month’s linky.

So get involved!  Spread #TheZenZing positive vibe 🙂

~
