How to find balance in life with a daily routine

How To Find Balance With Daily Routine

How to find balance in life with a daily routine

With the general business and busyness of everyday life, it’s so easy to get swept up in the day isn’t it?  But I find that by starting my day off on the right ‘foot’, it gives me a head start in overcoming any stress and negativity that comes my way throughout the day.

By having a daily routine, I have time for me albeit in the early hours before any else is awake.  Yes, I often struggle to get out of bed in the morning due to tiredness but I usually stick to my daily routine which happens to be in the morning (and bits of it are often repeated at night) and I really feel the difference.

How To Find Balance With Daily Routine

So what is my daily routine?

5 ways to ground yourself and control anxiety

Do you or someone you know experience anxiety?  Then you need

5 ways to ground yourself and control anxiety…

5 ways full to ground yourself and control anxiety virtually all sorts wellbeing

Look at happy pictures.  My ‘Smile, give your face a work-out’ pinterest board never fails to, well make me smile!  There are quite a few cute cat ones on there but the rest are just random ones that I’m sure will make you laugh from the belly.  You’re welcome 🙂

Surround yourself with positive people.  And if you’re limited to social contact for whatever reason (due to sleeping children at night-time or isolation perhaps due to illness), then you can join in with forums or even pinterest boards.  My ‘Just Wow’ board may literally take your breath away.  When I’m pinning away, I’m saying ‘wow’ and bam, it ends up on my board.  The beauty will at least help you forget your anxiety for a while.

Read positive things ~ blogs, books, and inspirational quotes.

Breathe ‘properly’ ~ meditate, practice yoga, use crystals.

Use a grounding rock ~ Mine is called my ‘gratitude rock’ and it works really well for me.  It’s whichever crystal I have on my person on any given day.  By physically touching it, I’m reminded of why it’s there, which helps to ground me.  I always make sure I’m using the right one for me on any given day.

Have you got any other ways to ground yourself?  All positive thoughts are welcome!  Share them in the comments below or tweet me @AllSortsHere 🙂

5 ways to be more healthy and stay that way

So, have you got a plan to improve your fitness?

Maybe you’ve joined a gym?

Perhaps you’ve got kitted out for running or swimming?

If you have, great!  Good for you!

Or maybe you’ve got yourself a yoga mat or a meditation app.

A step in the right direction…

All of the above exercises and activities improve our mental health as well as our physical health, of course.  Those wonderful endorphins that are released in exercise… ooh yeah, give me some of those!

And it sounds pretty obvious that a consistent approach is best and that it gives you the best chance of success.  Taking up and continuing with exercise or a beneficial activity is a bit of a mind-game.  Particularly in the early days, getting into your exercise kit is half the battle. We know we’re going to feel great during and after exercise but resisting the sofa, TV and treats can be a huge battle.

As I’ve already touched on, once those addictive endorphins start pumping, it’s like a good habit and you just want to keep going back for more.

5 ways stones pin 1 be more healthy and stay that way wellbeing exercise goals plans fitness mental health physical virtually all sorts swimming gym running yoga meditation

To help you on your way, here are 5 ways you increase your chances of success to be more healthy… and stay that way (be it physical or mental, or both!):

  1. Why wait until new year?  If you’ve decided to take action, do it!  Right now!  Seize the day…
  2. Do the exercise or activity at the same time or times each day/week.  Pretty quickly, you’ll see a habit forming.  A good habit! I’m no psychologist but why would you go back to bad habits when good habits make you feel so gooood?…
  3. Accept that you’re going to come across obstacles.  If the exercise is to lose weight, but you fancy a chocolate bar or piece of cake… have it!  And then get back on the plan straight away.  Likewise, if you fancy skipping a session of yoga or meditation, chill our with friends instead (non-toxic ones!), read a book, light some candles, got for a walk to your favourite cafe or have a de-clutter instead.  And then get back on to the plan straight away.
  4. Tell your friends about your plan.  Providing they’re of a positive, non-toxic nature, they’ll support you and encourage you along the way.
  5. Consider that going cold turkey is often the best way.  Years ago (around 6 year to be precise), I experienced issues which led to a suggestion from the doctor to cut out fizzy drinks and caffeine.  I didn’t ‘do’ fizzy and so cut the caffeine.  My several cups a day went to zero cups, just like that.  I’m not saying it was easy to do.  I had a stonking headaches for days but I pushed through.  And I haven’t done do caffeine in drinks since (please don’t take my chocolate away from me!…)  Going cold turkey was the best action to take.  You might say that I was desperate to stop the issues.  I’m not saying they cleared up completely just because of cutting the caffeine but often, going cold turkey is less painful than weaning yourself off.

There you have it then, 5 ways to be more healthy and stay that way!

Have you got a plan?  What will you be doing?  Have you stuck to a plan?  How did you do it?  Did you follow any of the suggestions above?  I’d love to hear from you!  Please comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere.  And come and say hi on social media ~

Thank you 🙂

How to change your zen to achieve your zing… #TheZenZing

Welcome back to #TheZenZing, where I help you put the

zing back into your life.

This time I ponder how to change your zen to achieve your zing!

#TheZenZing how to change your zen to achieve your zing energising rejuvinate benefits of exercise health wellbeing boost blog linky

In a previous ZenZing I shared how I intended to start running and swimming again.

After I passed my health check with flying colours, I decided not to assume I would remain physically healthy.

I decided that I needed some cardio to get my blood pumping.

My yoga, reiki and meditation help to keep me balanced mentally but I also needed to get moving.

I completed the Couch 2 5 k a couple of years ago (you can read my poem ‘Cancer, jog on!’ here.)

So, I thought it wouldn’t take a huge amount of effort to get my fitness back.

And did it?

Well, I don’t know!

I never started the running again.  Instead, our little girl has been swimming at her school and has been asking to go swimming at the weekends.  So we’ve been a couple of times and although I’m not doing hardcore swimming, I’m still getting some exercise.  It look like she’s getting very close to swimming unaided so it’ll be lovely to be able to do a width or 2 with her, moving on to lengths soon enough afterwards perhaps.

So, although my running’s been a non-starter (so far), swimming has taken its place!

And I’m okay with that because any exercise is better than none at all…

because it’s all about #TheZenZing 🙂

Have your exercise plans changed for whatever reason?  How did you adapt your plans to keep exercise on your radar?  I’d love to hear from you.  Please comment (below) or tweet me @AllSortsHere and use the #TheZenZing hashtag.

The benefits of morning yoga… relax with #TheZenZing

#TheZenZing relax yoga breathing revitalise energise morning routine zen

Hello and welcome to another #TheZenZing where this month I’m looking at the benefits of a morning yoga session.

In #TheZenZing I share how you can put the energy back into your life!

{Last month we looked at reiki and there was a giveaway of a distance reiki healing session (look out for another one very soon!) Would you be interested in receiving distance reiki?  Let me know by tweeting @AllSortsHere.}

Back to this month…. I’ve talked before about how I took inspiration from Vicki Psarias over at HonestMum by doing a morning yoga routine.  It’s 1 of 5 great ways to control anxiety and a month or two later and I can definitely feel the benefit…

#TheZenZing relax yoga breathing revitalise energise morning routine zen TnS Accessories mat

Not only is my morning yoga helping me to right the writing but rising 30 minutes earlier is also energising me.  Yes, really!  (Putting my phone alarm on the other side of the room also helps!..)

I grab my comfy, soft TnS yoga mat, roll it out and start my stretches by following this routine.  Accompanied by my conscious breathing, I really do feel the stretches working and next, I plan to ‘stretch’ to getting a yoga block to help with my yoga.

After my short routine, I feel revitalised and slurp on my hot lemon water (which brews while I’m doing my yoga!), in between doing the pack-ups for the day.

That 30 minutes to myself makes me feel organised, revitalised and sets me up for the day 🙂 …before I get the hubby and our little girl up for brekkie!

What do you do to revitalise yourself for the day?  And don’t say have a coffee! 😉

 It’s #TheZenZing…

I invite you to share your blog posts on anything ‘positive, happy and full of zing’  by linking up each month to #TheZenZing linky.  It will be open from 0600 GMT on the 1st of each month for 2 weeks.   I’ll share each post across my social media and in my monthly newsletter. In the following month’s #TheZenZing post, I will share my favourite post from the previous month’s linky.

So get involved!  Spread #TheZenZing positive vibe 🙂

My happy May #365doh

365doh May days of happy gratitude positivity law of attraction yoga zen reading happiness

So here’s where I sort the juice of my month from the pith and focus on the happy , the positivity and gratitude in my life 🙂

And it’s time to look back on May and its offerings!

But where did May go?  It all seemed to pass by in a blur to be honest.  That’s mainly due to 2 Bank Holidays (if you’re in the UK) and lots (and lots) of blogging.

After completing the #AtoZChallenge I decided to set myself a further challenge and blog every day until further notice (well, every day except Sundays. But even then I’m considering joining in with Silent Sunday…)  Why?  Because I absolutely love blogging and all that it entails.  I’m passionate about it and want to grow my blogging wings 🙂

We could all use a little gratitude…

That aside, I’ve started to do some yoga every other day and it’s really making a difference to my energy levels.  Okay, so I’m not *actually* jumping out of bed and stretching out on my yoga mat with a big smile on my face.  That’d just be a bit odd.  But I am getting up earlier than normal (and earlier than hubby and Our Little Bear) to do 10 minutes of stretching and breathing.  I’m managing to stretch that little bit more each time I do it, so I’m feeling that benefit that way too.  Why am I grateful for doing yoga?  It’s freeing up some time in the evenings to do some writing which I’m very grateful for.

We could all use a smile…

You know that big smile I mentioned just now?  Well there have been plenty, which is always a good thing!  One of those things is that Our Bear is loving a good book and can read by herself now, too.  Amazing!  She’s gone up 2 reading levels in the space of 2 weeks (maybe even less).  It’s a #ProudMummy(and Daddy)Moment indeed 🙂

…And we could all use some happiness…

That’s a snap shot of May.  Let’s see what June brings.  See you next month 🙂

What about you?  What have made up your happy days?

I’m linking this up with Lexie at Those Words She Wrote for #365doh, what will you share?

Yoga ~ How to Right The Writing With Morning Yoga

How To Right The Writing With Morning Yoga For Your Wellbeing Balance And Zen

Yoga ~ How to right the writing with morning yoga

Yoga is a great way to give you more focus.  I know this because I’ve recently worked some morning yoga into my daily routine and as a result I’ve been righting the writing because I’ve got more focus.

How To Right The Writing With Morning Yoga For Your Wellbeing Balance And Zen

By setting my alarm ‘just’ half an hour earlier (just?!?), I am finding that I’ve got the time to do 10 minutes yoga and have a nice cup of hot lemon water to put the energy back in my life.

The benefits of this morning yoga are many

I feel more alert, more energised and more ‘with it’ of a morning and therefore the rest of the day.

I’ve got more time in the evening to do things like writing, blogging and housey/family stuff too because I’ve already done my zen-thing for the day!

As a result, I can truly focus on some writing without quite so much clock-watching.

I’ve got Vicky at HonestMum to thank for getting me back into yoga after her inspiring post.

And I’ve been pinning different routines to give me some yogi variety too 🙂

As for my writing… well, it seems to give me more focus which brings with it more productivity and more ideas!  That’s a win-win for me finding my inner peace.

~

Do you do anything to energise yourself everyday?  Do you find it helps with your writing practice?
