The workouts that will get you started each morning
If getting yourself up and started in the morning is something that holds you back from being all that you can be, then fear not as there are ways to combat this. Well, you could drink yourself a nice, hot cup of coffee for starters! Or, you could go for a far healthier and far more fulfilling option – working out. Yes, working out is the best way to get you started in the morning and get your day up and running in the best way possible. And there are some workouts out there that are better suited to mornings than others. To see just a few of them, read on…
Yoga, even if it’s only for five minutes, is the perfect way to start your day… just ask Ilchi Lee. By taking part in a spot of yoga before you do anything else in your day, you give yourself the chance to stretch those muscles that have been in hibernation for the past eight hours (or maybe less!) and you give your mind the minutes of calm that it needs to get ready for the day ahead. So, get yoga’ing! This could range from wrist-shaking to gentle stretching to full blown hand-stand push ups!
Speaking of stretching your muscles, you should do a lot of it in the morning. By stretching you will give your muscles the chance to really reach their optimum working ability for the day ahead without straining them to a point where they are susceptible to being overworked and therefore hurt. You will inject the energy into your life that it needs at this time of day and you will tone your muscles and give them the chance to fight diseases such as arthritis. So, get stretching! More specifically, you can do the cat camel stretch. This is a dynamic pose that helps to stretch the spine and is great for giving the rest of the body the warm-up it needs.
Jumping jacks may seem a bit juvenile, but they make for a great morning workout, no matter your age. Just ask ‘jumper in Chief’ Michelle Obama! By doing this very simple exercise in the morning, you will get your heart pumping the way it needs to be when faced with a brand new day and you will improve your cardiovascular health to too. Does it get any better than that? Stand with your feet together and then jump with your arms and legs outstretched as soon as you get out of bed. You’ll definitely feel the benefit!
